Avantasia - Share Lyric Video For New Single

Avantasia, the brainchild of Tobias Sammet, will release a new digital single, "Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose", on December 11th but why wait more? The song taken from Avantasia's seventh studio album, Ghostlights, which will be released on January 29th, 2016 via Nuclear Blast, is now available for streaming online. The lyric video for "Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose" can be consumed below. Don't forget to tell us your impressions of the new material.

The twelve-song CD was produced by Tobias and Sascha Paeth at Gatestudio in Wolfsburg, Germany. Paeth engineered and mixed Ghostlights, while the mastering was done by Michael Rodenberg.

About the song itself Tobias Sammet says: "In my humble opinion it is the perfect overture to the seventy-minute journey which the full album is going to be. 'Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose' may be a rather short composition compared to most other Avantasia songs, yet I wanted to embellish and amplify it with flamboyance and all Avantasia trademarks. I wanted to make it a detailed piece of fantasy art, but at the same time it was a big challenge to make that painting look inherently consistent if you view it from the distance. The layered choirs took us forever to record and yet nothing distracts from the main theme and flow of the song. Every time you give it a listen you will discover something else going on. I have a feeling that I have never managed to create such an epic and dreamy atmosphere in just four minutes. I gotta admit, I am slightly proud of it!"

Off we go again. Dull, dull, dull. Shouldn't have expected anything else really. Track record said it would be the same as Scarecrow onwards.

Guess I will listen to this years Hollow Haze again to see how it should be done.

we should have discussion if this band even is metal anymore or not ....

Sounds like a crappy Meat Loaf album track. Also reminds me of something Amanda Somerville did with a Kiske lookalike...

Mediocrity of this aside, Herr Sammet remains my favourite German.

I don't mind the song stylistically. But the songwriting itself is a bit of a miss for me.

In other words, I appreciate what it's trying to do... it's just failing at it a bit.

Well, the ones awaiting something simmilar at the Metal Operas, turn the back at this new song.

I liked it so much. Avantasia nowadays goes beyond metal, sadly some heads hard as metal won't accept it...

I didn't actually like the Metal Operas all that much. "Runaway Train" on Wicked Symphony is what got me hooked.

I find it great that many others thought of Meat Loaf as I did. I'd love to see Meat Loaf join Tobias for a song, should have been this one. I'm a big fan of the metal operas, the singing cast for this one is fantastic, so I look forward to the album.

I always found Metal Operas as overvalued, their best effort is IMHO The Scarecrow.

Reminds me of David Coverdale song - Last Note of Freedom (it was a song for movie soundtrack), it just made me think of that

If whole album is like that, I will be satisfied...this is exactly what I expect from this ensemble

last Ava I found very mediocre, so I hope it gets better

and I agree that it sounds like Meat Loaf
