Whitesnake... One of the bands David Coverdale made after leaving Deep Purple. One of the best hard rock bands, too. Songs like In the still of the night, bad boys, looking for love, is this love are classic rock hits and untouched by time! No more introduction is needed.. Discuss them!

Great thread. I wanted to do something similar but as I see my other two threads here - Deep Purple and Uriah Heep aren't doing so well, I gave up the idea. Anyway Whitesnake has always been one of my favourite bands, one of the greatest rock bands ever. David Coverdale is one of the best vocalists in rock music; also a lot of great musicians played with Coverdale throughout Whitesnake's career (remember they're since 1977): Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Bernie Marsden, Mick Moody, John Sykes and Steve Vai - to name a few. Some important albums would be Trouble, Lovehunter, Come An' Get it, Slide It In and Whitesnake 1987. Anyway this band has never disappointed me, I consider WS one of those bands it's worth having all their albums.

I actually think that Whitesnake are highly overrated, and yes I've heard a lot from them since my mom is a fan. I found most songs to be boring, this band is one of the reasons I don't appreciate a lot of Rock music.

Whitesnake!!!!!! At leats a Topic of very very good Hard Rock! I just love the David Coverdale Voice giving all those tesitures and high tones with rough sound. My favorite disc is (Obviusly) 1987. The way i discovered this band is because i just wanted to know what about the singer of the Deep Purple disc Burn...so a friend told me that the guy was in a band of hard rock called whitesnake. After Listening Crying In The Rain, i knew that band will become one of my top favorites. "Give Me All Your Love Tonight... " Great song, and it sound incredible with Jorn!

I ill see them in the July, 6 in Istanbul. I missed the gig in 2006 and since then i have been living with the dream of this night. To me, Whitesnake is a passion and reason to love hard rock and Britain.:D

31.01.2009 - 03:19 Written by Bad English on 21.06.2008 at 09:47 But it's lovely. I haven't heard about 93% of Whitesnake songs, but those I have heard I actually like. And I'm the one who really can't stand miserable love songs, but I can listen to Whitesnake's "Looking For Love" or "Is This Love?" for hundreds of times...

Account deleted Written by Bad English on 31.01.2009 at 09:34 You're exaggerating a tad too much - Whitesnake 1987 and Slip of the Tongue are two more commercial albums but nevertheless the music is good , it's more than decent hard & heavy, the guitar work on both albums is great with an amazing John Sykes on 1987 and a great Steve Vai on SLip of the Tongue. I find these two albums quite enjoyable. The lyrics aren't that great indeed - love, sex & women but these have always been Coverdale's lyrical themes. Oh well, I don't expect anything else with WS. If I want to hear some serious lyrical themes I listen to something else.

01.02.2009 - 00:11 Written by Guest on 01.02.2009 at 00:00 Indeed. At least I can't think about the vikings all the time, if 30% of my favourite bands have songs about them. Also I can't imagine myself listening music from only one genre, it's impossible. But nevermind, I'm more into music, not the lyrics.

Sykes gets overpraised for his so-called work on Whitesnake (aka 1987) and Slip Of The Tongue, most of those guitar parts were orginally written by Ad van den brg bu Sykes got credited for them.

19.07.2009 - 15:03 Written by tea[m]ster on 19.07.2009 at 15:00 Mmm, he did tour with them because I saw them on that tour and Sykes was on stage with them. Ad van den Berg couldn't play live cause of a wrist injury. Btw Whitesnke are not and were never glam rock, they did have the hair (but then again so did thrash band back then) Musically they had nothing to do with glam.

19.07.2009 - 15:10 Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 19.07.2009 at 15:03 I have to disagree with you - they WERE a glam band (in the mid to late '80's anyway). They took the processed and repetitive path that every record company wanted out of their major hairbands - 1. Heavy song(still of the night) 2. Ballad (is this love) 3. Cheesy MTV video(s) - Tawny Katain ...what a joke that was 4. Tour

19.07.2009 - 15:23 Written by tea[m]ster on 19.07.2009 at 15:10 Tawny was of course Coverdale's wife at the time so who can blame him to show-off that kitten in a video? as for points 1, 2 & 4, that was already the case on all of their earlier work. As for those points (and some times point 3 as well) loads of thrash bands also went along that path as did bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, that doesn't make them glam/hair. Glam/hair had a specific sound to it and Whitesnake as Iron maiden, Judas Priest, thrash bands etc. didn't have that sound so they aren't glam/hair.

Whitesnake's songs were the ones that got me into rock & metal long time ago when I was a kid! I own all vinyls & 7"ep singles ever released plus loads of other memorabilia. Twice I got the chance to interview Coverdale for a metal magazine - both times phone interview - that was a great experience!!! Also I have seen them live all the times they played in Greece and once in the UK (Manchester 1997). Man, what can I say.... I am into 100's of bands from aor to black metal but if I should say one, just one band as my favorite that would definitely be Whitesnake!

The 1987 self titled album, and 1984's Slide It In. The new one is good too. I'm just in a Whitesnake phase at the moment. I saw them live last year, but I really want to see them again!
