Seeing as 10,000 Days was just released (and I'm a new tool fan, myself) it would be interesting to see what people think. Myself? I think it's a masterpiece. I don't think any of their albums are weak anywhere and this one carries on an already impressive discography. But otherwise, the band itself? Interesting music, unique, and the music videos are fascinating.

i like the band because of Adam Jones, he is a powerful guitarist. i like him, but i don't like Maynard Keenan... i hate him when is performing in A Perfect Circle. but Chancellor, Carey and Jones are really great. and their videos are because they're directed by Adam Jones...

Tool used to be my favorite band for years and years. They slid down my list as my tastes began to leave the mainstream a little but I still really appreciate their sound.

And that Danny Carey is a beast on the drums!

another great thing about this band is that after Aenima they release albums each 5 years. 1996, 2001, 2007, ... and this makes true fans hungry
of course i prefer to wait 5 years for an album, but when i got it, that be a good work and has the worth of listening to.

@Twilight: I got thh DVD recently. it's awesome. And the comment is hilarious Also because it must be damn hard to create a video for such a long song. in many metal videosthey cut teh solos or parts of teh songs, but never in Tool videos. Adam Jones is a genious

@Hamird: Maynard James Keenan has one of teh most powerful and unique voices in metal. Not to mention he composes most of teh songs.
Did you know that Adam Jones is a pro special FX make up artist?
So we'll ahve to wait till 2012 for teh next album? Damn

Tool is absolutly amazing
but i think they should just put ..... music that doesnt sound like they were on acid while creating it on their albums. some of their music is a bit pointless in my opinion but they are my favorite band, they create amazing music, and oh god maynards old enough to be my father but hes so hot ! : D

I've heard the same thing but I'm not sure if I believe it is true. He may lay down the basic ground work for what the song should be, you know...melody and that kind of thing. But as far as actually "composing" the music, I'm pretty sure that Adam and Danny do most of the work there...

David Cross' commentary is hysterical "Kissing the Sun, who would jerk off to this lol"

I don't think Maynard composes the songs though, in interviews they say they kind of have like a jam jazz session where they play their ideas to each other and give input as a collective... which is probably why the songs turn out so well. And I cannot stand how long we have to wait in between albums... but I will admit the extreme anticipation is always rewarded with a quality album!

..and I was never disappointed..

concerning Adam Jones: his live-performance is the most arrogant, hilarious and greatest at one time! Playing awesome riffs without any emotion nor the slightest wink of head-banging (saw them in 2007 on their Europe-Tour, great!). I love that attitude! I love Tool!

That indeed sounds weird to me, as Lateralus is the most compact album of Tool - seems to me just made of one piece, complete! And what about the huge collection of fabulous songs (mine.. )? So: The Patient, Schism, Lateralus, Disposition, Triad...

Could you explain that?

Yes, Lateralus takes time to fully appreciate. It's kinda subtle... but one day you will be listening to it and just "feel it" somewhere around the calm interlude of Ticks and Leeches...

..yes, same with 'Eon blue Apocalypse' as preparation for 'The Patient'! Or 'Faaip De Oaid' - the best not-song ever. I mean, what is this but aetherian mumbling, which completely unexpected designs a turning diabolic rhythm and leaves you shivering and scared...

Sorry, this album always gets me preaching

Am I the only one who thought 10000 Days was a flop? Relaly, there were only three amazing songs on it, other than that I could care less about the album. If Tool is planning on a new album, hoping it's like Lateralus and Undertow.

Nah I agree. 10000 Days was full of filler so it was very disappointing, but the beauty of waiting so long between albums is that many fans can be forgiving and just appreciate ANYTHING you put out... just as long as it's something. I think the songs on that are good but they definitely needed like 4 or 5 more real tracks on there. "Rosetta Stoned" was the highlight for me... and "The Pot" kinda caught me off guard.

I actually got to listen to The Pot before getting the CD, the only thing that sold me to that song was the bass line. As for the other songs, Vicarious, Wings for Marie and The Pot. The others were just putrid bullshit to listen to.

First: this comment would better fit to the review-part.
Second: That's quite a harsh comment to a Tool album!
I admit, that I needed some time to change disappointment into appreciation, when I came upon all these 'fillers' during the first listenings. 10.000 days was somehow much more difficult to get in. The real songs on the album are great though(all in all 7). And of the wings for marie-pair I actually prefer the second part (10.000 days), which features an awesome bass line too.

What about 'Jambi' and 'Right in two'?! Well, I agree, that it doesn't reach the level of Lateralus as a whole, but it's definitely far away from a crap-album!

Well let me give it another listen, it's been quite a while since i've listened to it. I remember only fully enjoying those three, but maybe I wasn't paying much attention.

And to say "putrid bullshit" is only ranging out of how amazing Tool can be. I know they're better, all three before 10000 Days were amazing.

So I hope you are going to like it on the second run, because it's the negative and nearly annoying side effect of a beloved band, which takes 5 years to create something new, that, if you don't like a record, you've got to wait for some more 5 long years..
