Like my other genre lists, this is not meant to be a definitive guide to power metal or a binding judgment on what power metal is or is not. The list exists purely for my own organizational purposes and may contain bands or albums that are not strictly True Knights of the Eternal Thundersword.

The first cluster includes my favorite albums in the genre (and a significant number of my all-time favorites); beyond that, they are listed by rating from 9/10 down to 6/10 and alphabetically within each bracket.

Fronted by the almighty Tyrant, led by Mark Briody and been a home to guitar lords as Joey Tafolla, Chris Broderick and Christian Lasegue. And no, let's no forget the rythm section by John Tetley and the beast Rikard Stjernquist. Jag Panzer has it all and it reflects on their strong material. Apart from the mistep in in the early 90's they have never released a weak album and time and time again proves they are among the top bands in the genre. The last 15 years we've only got 2 albums which is a shame, they really need to step up their writing and recording process. So here are all their albums ranked with some top picks to guide you. EP, full-length albums, & single song picks from a Guy Who's Not Really into PM... Yeah, I should have put up Viron's cover art as the image but that Dokken single (theme song of Nightmare on Elm Street movie #3) just looks far more interesting. Whether or not that was a PM addition to a Hollywood soundtrack may be a point of relevance, but to me it's immaterial. Go listen to the music!
