After releasing the excellent Minoans album last year, American post-metallers Giant Squid have now announced that they are going on hiatus. The long statement can be read on their Facebook page. In short, Giant Squid is taking a long break. But the band might also never return with no plans for a new album on the horizon.

Giant Squid is back with a new album this year! According to the band's website, the band has been tracking their new album, titled Minoans, at Louder Studios in Grass Valley, California with Tim Green (Melvins, Fucking Champs, Red Sparrows, Pleasure Forever, Karp). Their label Translation Loss will be releasing Minoans on CD/digital/vinyl simultaneously around October, 2014. You can expect more details to come soon. For those who have been waiting for the successor to The Ichthyologist and EP Cenotes, this will come as good news.
