We are a hub for metal music on the internet: a resource for tracking, sharing, discussing, compiling, experiencing, and keeping up with all of the worthwhile heavy music in the world. We are a news outlet, a database of artists, a publisher of reviews, a forum for discussion, and a valuable resource maintained for fans by fans. Metal Storm is dedicated to supporting metal and the community that fosters it, free from commercial interest.


Our Values

The metal community is a very diverse one, and it is our goal to make Metal Storm a welcoming place for everyone regardless of race, nationality, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, or preferred Black Sabbath vocalist. We do not tolerate discriminatory or antisocial behavior from our users. Nor do we tolerate it from bands: Metal Storm aims not to give a platform to bands that endorse Nazism, racism, or antisemitism or otherwise use artistic expression as a means to spread hateful ideologies. We acknowledge that extremism and hate are part of our world; they cannot and should not be ignored, but fought back against. It is also our ultimate goal to provide a safe space for all of our global community here. Balancing these convictions can be challenging, but we hope to allow our policy to evolve according to what best achieves our goal.


What We Are

The bedrock of Metal Storm is its expansive database: thousands of artists are catalogued in our archives. Users are able to rate and comment on albums, follow bands, and curate their own collections based on the band profiles and discographies we maintain. On the front page, our daily news cycle allows users to stay up to date with album announcements, tour details, and other stories of interest; reviews, interviews, articles, concert photo galleries, and other publications offer criticism and recommendations to help readers discover new artists and how to support them. Our forums are open for discussion of all things metal and almost metal.



Our Community

Metal Storm's community spans the globe, encompassing thousands of music lovers with diverse backgrounds and interests. We aim to unite as many of those backgrounds and interests as we can in a heavy metal context and make this a place where people can comfortably interact with other fans. Our staff is composed entirely of volunteers: we work to keep Metal Storm alive and well because we believe in the value of a place where people can share and nurture mutual love for metal. It is through the dedication of our staff and the contributions of our users that Metal Storm has become what it is today, and that is how Metal Storm will continue to improve.


Our Organization

Metal Storm is an independent nonprofit organization that operates free of commercial interest, purely for artistic and social purposes. We do not feature advertisements: partly to make site navigation bearable and free of distraction, partly because we do not want to rely on outside revenue sources, partly because our intention is for Metal Storm to support music and not the other way around. We do not harvest data or seek to exploit our users for gain, as this is counter to our goals of building a community and focusing our efforts on the music. We believe that Metal Storm is a useful asset to fellow fans and we do not wish to cheapen that by making the site about money.
