Did he make such big mistake? Yes, he did. Shall he be somehow "punished"? I think so, however, it is more than agreed, it's getting out of proportion.

IMHO, Phil Anselmo acts like a pitbull, he doesn't think over what he says and then the shit is already done and there's no way to be repaired at all! He's fucking stupid and not necessary a pig racist, although there's no way to defend/support this guy, after all, it's not the first time he said something related to "white power" supremacy or whatever bullshit it might be. As a matter of fact, this side had already once surfaced during one of his speech fronting Pantera back in the late 90's.

Anyway, I don't think this is right thing to be done regarding this issue. Instead of cancelling the EU tour and let the Down fans and especially his band members, who got nothing to do with this issue, he'd better do something better to clean up his current nasty image towards the metal community. For instance, he could donate a substantial amount of cash to an antiracism NGO or a jewish community as Scott Ian clever suggested him to do.

In fact, If I were on his shoes, The main purpose of his life must be: clean up from substances from now on. No matter whether it was booze, dope or something harder. That would make him better as human being and realize how pricky he was with such statements.

Geez, there are so many musicians who are on the opposite side of being humble, and most of us gets how egotistic they are. This story just keeps being repeated until it burns into your head and (stupidly) you start to relate the music to the person and re-evaluate it on this criteria. Music is meant to be listened for the sake of its own! I hope people will still enjoy both Pantera and Down and not fall into this bs.
