On February 20th 2026, Sylosis will put out their seventh full-length offering dubbed The New Flesh. The 11-piece music output was produced and mixed by Josh Middleton, engineered by Scott Atkins. Alongside unveiled details, the band present a music video for the first single-title song.

Sylosis stated: "Introducing The New Flesh. This is us solidifying the line up of the band and moving forward with a new sense of purpose and aggression. After having spent so much of the last 2 years on the road, The New Flesh, and the songs that will follow from the album, have been written with the live environment in mind. There is an energy running through these songs that we’ve never felt on a Sylosis album, until now. We'll see you all in 2026."

Album tracklist:

01. Beneath The Surface
02. Erased
03. All Glory, No Valour
04. Lacerations
05. Mirror Mirror
06. Spared From The Guillotine
07. Adorn My Throne
08. The New Flesh
09. Everywhere At Once
10. Circle Of Swords
11. Seeds In The River

Not really sure what to make of it - on the one hand, it's nice to have a bit of energy after all the mid-tempo fare on the last album, but on the other hand it's bizarre hearing them play such a generic thrash sound. You'd normally think a band would start off replicating their influences and then building their own identity, so hearing a band that had such a strong voice and identity on their early albums regress to this is a real disappointment; there's only like one or two brief moments where I hear something that makes me think 'oh this is Sylosis'. I've already pretty much given up on them ever getting back to the quality they were at pre-hiatus, but I think I still have room for more disappointment, so let's see what the full album offers. I also don't like this artwork - the style they had for EOTE -> Dormant Heart definitely fit them best.

I recall Josh on his youtube channel saying this next album is gonna be an evolution of ASOTTC, but after that he wants to do a more EOTE sounding album, so I'm not expecting much from The New Flesh, but holding out hope for more of the old Sylosis in the future

I think Josh's time in Architects was the downfall of the band. it gave him a taste of popularity and opened his mind to sacrificing quality for money. or not...maybe they just don't have any cool riffs left in them. either way I also gave up on them a long time ago
