The fanboy half of me likes the song (just because it's Steve Vai), the other half expects much more from him

Sounds like he is holding back throughout the song, and the double base seems to have been added after he was already done recording, instead of being a starting point for him to do something great with
Almost like he"s doing just enough of his style to fulfill a contract, which is odd since he"s on his own label

That guitar is insanely cool, though
