Blighted Eye - Agony's Bespoke

This is freaking awesome. Best new discovery of the week for me.

I reckon there's quite a few categories come the next MSAs in February that will be a bit thin on worthy nominees, but one category that once again will be a case of squeezing 20 worthy albums into 10 will be Extreme Progressive - this is yet another excellent album in the category in 2024, and what an exciting release as a band's debut

Wow, what a debut! The songwriting on this album is absolutely fantastic, one of the best progressive death metal releases I've heard in some time I must say.

Now this is just my kind of prog-death! The vocals and riffs are amazing, and the songs are superbly written. A Reverant Stillness is one of the best songs coming out this year imo.

Top Releases of 2024

Good stuff here

Fantastic debut album! It really came out of my blind side; one of the highlights of 2024 for me, thanks to Metal Storm!

Felt only ok for the first couple of tracks but really won me over by the end

I am not taken to it as much as the other members here but I will still say it's a very decent effort towards a melodeath/ progdeath album with tasty riffs scattered throughout the album.

One of the few recent albums I listen to its entirety when it comes up in my random album selection.
I'm not big on melodeath or black metal, but this combo here really does it for me even though it's really sad sometimes. Also, the progy bits aren't over the top and chaotic, but rather follow a more direct path, which I absolutely prefer.
Definitely one of my all time favourite albums and I really can't wait for their 2nd album
