That opening riff of Steppes is easily one of the catchiest things I've heard all year. Been stuck in my head all week

Decent EP. But Aura is better.

Second. This feels like a significant step down in diversity and songwriting.

^Totally. Steppes is probably my favorite Bölzer song.
The opening and that part starting around 2:04 up until an intense eargasm at 2:32 is freaking amazing. Mr. Jones really knows how to write riffs with killer guitar tone.

Entranced has THE riff, but for an overall song, I prefer Steppes. Even CME or Phosphore are better as a whole, imo.
Songwritting is just superior on those ones, and some of their riffs are massively underrated by the shadow of the Wolfshook. The middle slower part of Entranced always bugged me, as does the lack of development in the second part (copy-paste, even if it's the ultimate riff). But it's hard to decide when a band only puts out gold.

only gold? The full-length begs to differ.

Took me some time to appreciate but the full-length is great. The amazing riffs are still there and I don't mind the clean vocals. I know everyone complains about them, are off key or whatever, but they add a sort of epic primitive flavour and blend well enough (on the title track particularly). It suffers from a comparison with the EPs as its length doesn't make it as focused as a short 2-3 song release and the sound evolves a bit.

I overreacting with my review rating by at least half a point (but my words remain the same). This is still a fantastic EP though and I think it has aged well. It just looses against the mighty Aura.
