Let's face it. Aborted aren't really going to return to their well-known abrasive and explosive style of brutal death/deathgrind we know and love, à la Goremageddon and Engineering The Dead. They've taken a more dulled down, melodic death path, while still retaining their brutality, even though it just doesn't live up to their early days.

Damn, you can't even sob? Those must be one hell of fractures.

There is an obviously stronger classic death metal influence in this album's sound than on aborted's more recent efforts such as 'The Archaic Abattoir', yet the vocals are STILL the weakest/most annoying thing to be found on here. Guitar work is extremely technical (as always) and the 'toilet humour' of 'From a tepid whiff' can keep even the most miserable man amused. However, the cover of 'Left hand Path', while it clearly sets out to be as good as the original, tends to bore quite quickly. Nevertheless, it seems to have been a return to the early days of Aborted for this EP, and especially on the quite brilliant 'Global Flatline'.

A much better attempt at balancing the brutality of their older work and the newer stuff they were trying out. It's an enjoyable little EP.
