A vastly underrated album. I like it much better than the Spectral Sorrows.

I heard this was Dan Swano's personal favorite Edge of Sanity album.

Ordinary men hate solitude. But the Master makes use of it, embracing his aloneness, realizing he is one with the whole universe (Lao Tzu).

Better than Spectral Sorrows AND Purgatory Afterglow I'd say. Great production, nice riffs with some good variation and pleasant, but not overused, melodies. Swano sounds great here too.

Completely agree with you on this one. You very nicely articulated what makes this a great record. I can see the appeal of PA, but I don't understand why people would enjoy SS over this one.

Nothing special, long for DM. I supose you should be extreme dm fan, I was when I was young, now well, BM, if it would be BM band it would be better, I add extra edge to this as band name and Dany boy is icon...

Nocturnal Bro
At 1:39:42 in this interview of Dan Swanö, he talks about his great plans for and experience with recording the song "Enigma" on this album. He had all of the band members sing the intro together and edit it in such a way that they sound like an enormous choir. However, he lost that recording and the only thing that was left (and which one hears) is Dan's guide vocals.

Funnily enough, when he was singing that part ("sounding like a school boy") he not only sang it all in one breath, but while recording, his idol Leif Edling from Candlemass walks into the control room. Of all the times to walk in on the supposed death metal god, Leif saw how Dan was singing in this high-pitched voice

It turns out that this song became a big deal in the death metal scene at the time because it was practically the first time that clean vocals were on a death metal record.
