To get this out of the way, I consider Axel Rudi Pell a horrible guitarist. Decent, occasionally even great composer, but horrible musician and I find it baffling that this barely gets remarked.

Mellow instrumental intro, fast opening song, midtempo second song... then the rest is two ballads, one epic title track and then the others are solid rockers... familiar with the formula yet? Yes. Am I bored with ARP? Oh no, there's really not a single weak track and surely among his better albums.

I agree with the review on this site though, ARP is not a fun guitarist, very far from it. Everytime he takes on a solo you feel a bit awkward, that vibrato is terrible and at times feel sloppy and lacks a touch of finesse. It's not like I expect a Malmsteen or Blackmore solo but I feel he is overplaying himself a lot of times... Luckily he has managed to surround him with other great band members and also maintain the ability to write hooks and great melodies. So for that I have a huge respect for the guy.
