I don't want to make you too jealous, first with Ludicra and now with Year Of No Light... but I have seen them 5 times now and the first time was when they still had a vocalist. Saw them four times at Roadburn where they did two different sets last year, one was Ausserwlt and the other was a soundtrack to the Vampyr movie. Both were good to great.
But best gig I saw by them was a couple of days after Roadburn 2010 when they played in a tiny club (could hold a maximum of 100 people) in my hometown of Utrecht and they opened for Altar If Plagues and they played Ausserwlt in its entirety for the first time, with two drummers, and it was the most intense gig I had ever undergone in my life (seeing I have seen thousands of gigs since 1983 you can imagine how impressed and blown away I was)

Even though I have no experience whatsoever in live performances but I can see this kind of music played in small intimate clubs with awesome light-shows , and if they could handle the intensity of their music in such live show it would be a once in life time experience

I wouldn't say monumental, it sits high atop the post/sludge/atmo mountain...
You should dig up some videos on youtube performing these songs live, the two drummers are a sight to behold!

It feels monumental if you know what I mean, it has this glorious vibe and even though it might not be the best ever it feels as if it's perfect
downloading a live video from their official website.

It is a forward-thinking effort, but it gets stale after a few songs. I used to like it but sadly, it's not made to last.

To me it just keeps getting better. A fine example of the more modern post metal sound.
