Yea, so lame...because all of us already known all those chansons by heart, so we know we hear nothing new and therefore we are disappointed...

well this is a lame cover album imo because Therion stay way too close to the original versions. They didn't try to make the songs their own. But then again 99% of all covers in metal are crap because of precisely that fact.
And tbh the original chansons are already not oo good either. Second to third rate chansons they are.

that's quite an acceptable objection, but still - first you need to know the originals to honestly say that...and i am pretty sure 99% of furious fans don't...

Didn't know there was a new Therion album!
I'll still give it a listen, but with 'Sitra Ahra' being so superbly average, I don't know what to expect.
technically there isn't This is boring. Im starting to doubt Therion. Sitra Ahra was somewhat of a low blow and now this?

I know, Sitra Ahra wasn't absolutely terrible but it was terribly, terribly bland.

thank you. idk what possessed Therion to put this out. I can see why it was only being sold at shows and not a retail record store.. i'll pass, sorry Chris

I was really looking forward to this...then I learned it's going to be a cover album
:'(
I was hoping for something along the lines of Theli, Vovin, Sirius B/Lemuria...hell, even Gothic Kaballah...not covers

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against cover albums (if they are good) but seriously... What is this?!? I think that Chris seriously lost his mind now... and the videos just prove it 100%... I even really like Chris' crazy Carbonized project from the '90s but this album is just stupid and boring, nothing special AT ALL... This shouldn't have been a Therion album... but hell, after Sitra, it makes sense a bit... Therion is dead (for now)...
(my first post on MS! and I wasted it here, yay! but I couldn't help myself...)

I am avoiding the album like plague when knowing that it's a cover of traditional french songs, but he said his first post has been wasted. Consider it as my way of welcoming him to the forums

That's right but I started using MS regularly just a few months ago actually. Plus I do not comment that much

Interesting as an idea, very bad as a result
french lyrics + extensive use of female vocals + absence of guitar parts + lyrical themes that don't fit to therion = a big disappointment !!
i hope that this wasn't a regular release from therion, it's more than a 25th anniversary album.
every band deserves a failure. hope this is the last.

Listened to this online, and thought: "can't be"....
It's a total waste of time, annoying as hell and almost as bad as "LULU"

I was kind of dissapointed this was a covers album. I though Chris had written his own opera or something at first. but it seems that's actually his next project.
Anyway, I really like these versions of the songs, the vocalists did a really good job here even though instrumentally it's really basic. I can't see why a lot of people dispised this one, except for the ones who knew these songs previously of course

Wasn't familiar with most of the original songs, but some do sound enjoyable considering I can't see it as a proper Therion album.

What can I say about this...an album is pretty disappointing, yeah, but you know what? This covers look great on their live shows. Their live performance of "Une Fleur Dans Le Cœur" nearly made me cry. And this way 4 seconds after great headbanging. Need something to do that, I always thought that this way a privilege of Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus.
I say this album is just like metallica's Garage.Inc: good ol' songs with modern production. And sometimes with better vocals.

Me neither but after listening to the album I looked for most of them on YouTube, and was amazed at what Therion did with those songs. Can't deny they sound better Therionized than original. I suggest you all give it a shot. It's really a great album even though it consists of cover songs. Chris and Therion put effort into making those classics enjoyable to metal-oriented listeners and even if they perhaps failed for some, I know this album made me appreciate them even more.

As a fan of Sirius B, Lemuria, and Gothic Kaballah, I think this is the next best album. Its catchy, brilliantly orchestrated, and is overall very creative, unlike their last album.

My only complaint is the lack of vocal variety. Sitra Ahra had a roughly even split between Vikstrom, Lewis and Shaw. This is at least 3/4s Lewis, and Shaw only appears on 2 songs. You'd have to go back to Lepacca Kliffoth to find a Therion album as vocally one-sided as this.

Remember Shaw left the band, he's only a guest in this one sadly. But it's true Lori is everywhere, I don't have a problem with that though
