Can't ever judge Prog albums of any kind on the first listen. It's a complex intelligent genre. The more you hear it the more you like it. If you like the song right away, you'll get sick of it quickly. With good prog, you'll grow to love it.

If by "complex intelligent" you mean "instrumental masturbation", or "pretentious serious musicians" or "milking a bridge until it draws blood". Only joking of course! That only happens 95% of the time in prog "metal".

P.S.1 - Except for DT which I've always hated with a passion that I cannot rationally explain to a 100%
P.S.2 - Sorry for the rant. I warned you on P.S.1

If you hate DT so much why do you even bother listening to something that you can't appreciate?

It's funny that even when DT tries a more straight forward approach, write shorter songs, they still get called "pretentious", "masturbation" etc.

I do generally like progressive styles of metal. But when it comes to DT, it's just a matter of taste. I like being fair though so I always give an album a chance.
