Last year, Frontiers Records Srl announced the collaborative project between ex-Sonata Arctica guitarist and the mastermind of Cain's Offering Jani Liimatainen and ex-Nightwish singer Anette Olzon. Now, strengthened by Liimatainen's Cain's Offering bandmates Jani "Hurtsi" Hurula (drums) and Jonas Kuhlberg (bass), and officially known as The Dark Element, this Finnish/Swedish project will release their debut self-titled album on November 10th, 2017. Former Nightwish singer Anette Olzon faced a scary situation as she was allegedly "beaten down and robbed by a junkie" on her way home in Helsingborg, Sweden yesterday (Monday, February 22nd). She posted the news via Instagram with a picture of the injuries. Since Olzon parted ways with Nightwish in 2012, she's been working as a solo artist, releasing her debut full-length, Shine, in 2014.

Anette Olzon, vocalist of Finnish symphonic metallers Nightwish, has posted two demo songs online. You can check out the solo material, called "Floating" and "Invincible", on her Myspace profile.

Here's what she had to say abou it: "Ok, so the surprise I teased you with is that I have created my own Myspace page for some songs from my demo I did in 2009. The songs are not mixed or produced, just recorded in the moment and therefore are very rough songs. But I still want you to hear them since I am proud of them and I think they show another part of me than you hear in Nightwish.

The first song is called "Floating" and I call it the "Cirkus"song. It gives me a happy feeling and the vibe in it is happy and joyful. The second song is a song I wrote for my son and it´s very special to me therefore...

Tonight or tomorrow I will add another surprise song in there, will let you know when!"

Back in March we reported about Anette Olzon's pregnancy... which means we also have to inform you about the outcome of this story, right?

So, yesterday afternoon, Friday July 30, at 4:28 pm Swedish time, the Nightwish vocalist gave birth to her second child (her first with current boyfriend and Pain bassist Johan Husgafvel). The baby boy is 52 centimeters tall and weighs in at 3930 grams. Olzon also has an eight-year-old son, Seth, with her now-ex-husband.

Anette posted the following message on her blog today: "We have tried to get him out the natural way since tuesday and used different methods, but like with my first son, I didn´t get enough strong contractions so it was decided to finally get him out through a c-section.

We all are just fine but still in the hospital where we are resting and just being so happy to have this beautiful and precious boy with us. Life is so wonderful and I am so, so happy and just floating with joy."
