Nocturnal Rites - In Writing Mode

Swedish metallers Nocturnal Rites have issued the following update on their official website:

"Hi everyone! We thought it was time for a fresh start. As you can see we are working on a brand new website which will be online very soon, we hope! And it will contain lots of new stuff and information for you.

We are currently writing songs for the new album and rehearsing for the gig at the Sabaton Cruise in Stockholm, 2nd of December 2010. The song-writing is going well we have lots of new material for our 9th studio album. We have some really dark and aggressive stuff written as well as some more melodic, so this new album will definitely cater to all aspects of the Nocturnal Rites legacy!

We also played some live shows with our new guitarist Chris Rörland. This guy really did a great job, entering the stage for the first time as a new member of the band and he kicked ass from the beginning to the end! Not showing any fear at all, he just went for it, crazy but still being 100% professional. Even after a few shows it feels like he's been in the band for ages. So we are extremely happy.

And we would also like to thank everyone who came to see us on our gigs since we started playing again. A big thanks to you all!

More news to follow! Keep your eyes and ears open for upcoming songs, live shows, recording session & release. Play Loud!"

Nocturnal Fear - Announce New Album Title

Nathan Birk of Moribund Productions sent out the following message concerning US Thrashers Nocturnal Fear:

"Riding high on the critical acclaim afforded last year's Moribund album Metal Of Honor, hailed by many critics as THE thrash metal assault of 2009, Nocturnal Fear guitarist/founder Chris Slavehunter PhD reports that he's nearly settled on a new bassist and, above all, that writing has commenced for the follow-up album, currently titled Excessive Cruelty. Tentative song titles at the moment include:

I Am War
Human Shield
Murder For Hire
You're The Disease (I'm The Cure)
Rolling Thunder
Excessive Cruelty
Absolute Annihilation
World War 3

Nocturnal Fear's Excessive Cruelty is slated for release through Moribund during the second half of 2010. Slavehunter concludes the update with the following prophetic words: "We plan on raining on people's parade with this next disc and continue to call out the fucking posers and smashing faces with our ruthless bullet-belt assault." For more info, consult Moribund's official website and Nocturnal Fear's MySpace.

Nocturnal Rites - Guitarist Nils Norberg Leaves

Nils Norberg, guitarist of Swedish power metal formation Nocturnal Rites, has left the band. The following message was posted by him on the band's official site:

"Hi everyone!
I just wanna write and explain some stuff for you out there. I have decided to lay down the guitar as my interest for music kind of cooled down the last years. So I'm not a part of Nocturnal Rites any more. It's just because of myself. I decided to do this and it has absolutely not been a bad feeling in the band in any way. I don't know how or if I will go on with music, but I will take a break from the guitar that has been taking up all my waken time the last 20 years. The band will always be a 2nd family for me and I'm not closing the door to play with them again if it would be an opportunity and I would have the urge to play again.

I think the band will go on and will still make kick ass music both live and in the studio.

I just wanna say thanx to the band for the best times in my life and to all the nice people I met and partied, destroyed, laughed and kicked ass with along these 12 years in the band. Thanx so much!!!!!!

Take care and maybe we meet again somewhere!
/Nils"

The band has also posted the following:

"The remaining members would like to extend a huge thank you to Norberg for his time in the band and wish him all the best! We respect his decision but hope he finds his way back to music.

Applicants interested in replacing Norberg are of course more than welcome to email us their demos at guitarist@nocturnalrites.com

Nocturnal Rites - New Album Ready

Sweden's Nocturnal Rites have set "The 8th Sin" as the title of their new album, due in Europe on May 28 via Century Media Records.

According to a press release, the mystery of the album title can now be revealed: the new album is, of course, full of lust, gluttony and pride, but stands above of any wrath, greed, sloth or envy - the 8th not that deadly sin, however, is a deluxe blend of melodic metal and hard rock done the Nocturnal Rites way!

"The 8th Sin" offers a slightly more modern sound with harsh riffs, huge choruses and the band's classic guitar extravaganza. But don't be afraid of any bad surprises, the new album is 110% Nocturnal Rites from start to finish!

"The 8th Sin" was produced by the band themselves, co-produced by Shep and mixed by Mattias Eklund and Nocturnal Rites at Toontrack Music in Umeå, Sweden.

The tracklisting goes as follows:

01. Call Out To The World
02. Never Again
03. Not The Only
04. Tell Me
05. Not Like You
06. Leave Me Alone
07. Till I Come Alive
08. Strong Enough
09. Me
10. Pain & Pleasure
11. Fools Parade

Nocturnal Rites - New Album Almost Ready

Nocturnal Rites bassist Nils Eriksson has issued the following update on the band's official website:

"Hey, we will fix our forum once and for all next week. Sorry about this crap, but we've been way too busy recording to even think about any website related stuff. Good news is that we will start mixing our yet untitled album on Monday!

Honestly, this album feels really different, fresh and new. Still it sounds like us, in some wierd way. Guess we can't escape the NR ghost. However, we have some REALLY cool songs on the way. Be patient.

Tons of stuff will be up here soon, like studio pics and whatnot. We will be back asap with tracklisting, release dates and whatever else we know by then."
