Anthrax - Entering The Studio Soon

Original news, posted on 13.08.2008

Nuclear Blast offered the following update:

"American Heavy Metal legend Anthrax are back and about to enter the studio. Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante has issued the following update: "We're entering the studio in October to start recording. We wanted a Halloween vibe. I wanna do my drum tracks dressed like Ringo."

Furthermore, Anthrax will play their first Korean show ever, playing the Dongducheon Rock Festival."

You can read the full blog by Charlie Benante here.

UPDATE

Here's an update from Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante:

"We have 13 brand new Anthrax songs, we have 4 (maybe 5) B-Sides. The B Sides will be "Brain of J" - Pearl Jam, "Big Eyes" - Cheap Trick, "New Noise" - The Refused, "Running Down a Dream" - Tom Petty, and maybe an Anvil cover - "Jackhammer"? Or maybe an Alice Cooper cover - "We Die Young"?

The new tunes are very strong. We have some old school thrash and some stuff that is like "We've Come For You All" meets "Sound Of White Noise". This record is not forced - it is a very organic and honest representation of where we are as a band and as writers. I hear many things nowadays that sound forced, I ain't digging that. There is a 6-minute tune called "Down Goes The Sun", I believe it is one of my favorite songs. The music itself is epic, it sends chills up my spine. "Face with No Name", "The Devil You Know", "Earth On Hell" - all killer.

"Worship Music" should be out in May. We enter the studio on Nov 4th, the day that change comes, hahahaha."

"Worship Music" will be the first Anthrax album to feature new vocalist Dan Nelson and the band's first album since 2003's "We've Come For You All".

Methusaleh - New Side Project Of Anthrax Guitarist

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has formed a new side project called Methusaleh. According to Ian, the group features "some lovely fellows that play in some major bands. I can't say shit about it right now other than the songs are fucking heavy, like a more metallic Kyuss."

In other Anthrax news, it has been reported that the band has already written 8 songs for the follow-up to 2003's "We've come Come For You All". This will be the first new studio release in 5 years. The hairy-chinned bald-man said "it sounds like Anthrax from 1987 through a 2008 sound system, if that makes any sense!"

OFFICIALLY - The Triumphant REUNION, The Original Line-up of Legendary Speed Metal Icons!!!

ANTHRAX RETURNS!!!

New York's own ANTHRAX has an unmistakable signature style and distinct sound that breaks musical, cultural and political boundaries - influencing a myriad of bands throughout the spectrum of musical genres for 20 years.

Twice GRAMMY-nominated, MTV/VMA nominees and Multi-Platinum and Gold Awarded music veterans, ANTHRAX has sold over 10,000,000 records worldwide, including nine studio albums, two live albums, three greatest hits, plus two DVDs. Touring pros ANTHRAX performed on over fifty tours spanning the globe - in thirty-two countries on five continents including Europe, North America, South America, Australia and Asia.

Now, for the first time in 13 years, the entire original lineup of Joey Belladonna, Frankie Bello, Charlie Benante, Scott Ian and Danny Spitz will gather together in one room to discuss new music releases, as well as the future plans for this monumental ANTHRAX reunion.

Please join us for the biggest event in heavy music - the ANTHRAX Global Press Conference and Luncheon. This history-making music event will take place on April 1, 2005 at 2:00 PM ET/11:00 AM PT at SIRIUS Satellite Radio's national broadcast center in New York City, and will be broadcast live on Hard Attack/27, SIRIUS' extreme heavy metal channel.

Refreshments and light fare will be served. A telephone line (866-510-5377) will be set up for off-site journalists to call in questions to directly ask the band - live on SIRIUS! Photos will be accommodated. To attend in person, press must RSVP by 5 pm ET on March 31, and a photo ID will be required to enter the building.

The event will officially kick off the weekend music special "SPREADING THE ANTHRAX" on Hard Attack/27, where millions will hear it first.

At the conclusion of the ANTHRAX Global Press Conference and Luncheon, ANTHRAX will make an important statement regarding the U.S. Government and the Anthrax Vaccine. ANTHRAX has teamed up with Slave to the Metal Foundation (www.slavetothemetal.org) to bring public awareness to the dangers of the Anthrax Vaccine. The newly legislated "BioShield Act" (July, 2004) allows the Department of Health and Human Services to inject American Citizens with Anthrax Vaccines and other untested and unapproved substances without informed consent, using our military as first line guinea pigs. Experts will be at the conference to discuss this with attendees."

Anthrax - Comments on Show in Lima, Peru

Posted in the official Anthrax website by Ian Scott, about concert in Peru:

Amigos,
Viva Peru!!!! Seriously, the show in Lima was top 5 of all time. Just complete insanity from start to finish. The gauntlet has been thrown and Peru is king shit of fuck mountain as of now.

They don't get many shows in Lima but I am going to do my best to spread the word that it is not a country to skip in SA. Of the so-called "big four" bands from the 80's we were the first to go. These people are starving for metal. It was a privilege to play for you maniacs. Thank you!!!!! I'm getting ready to go rock here in Costa Rica. Judging by the in-store we did today, tonight could be just as crazy as Lima. Pisco sours for all my friends!!!!
