Deicide - Unveils 'New' Logo Design

Floridian death metallers Deicide have unveiled their "new" logo design at this location.

As previously reported, the video for Deicide's track "Homage for Satan", which was allegedly "banned" in the U.K. by music station Scuzz TV, looks set to air on MTV2 this weekend. The track, taken from the critically acclaimed album "The Stench of Redemption", released earlier this month, will make its "Headbanger's Ball" debut tonight (Saturday, September 2). The show, hosted by Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta, airs at 10:00 p.m. EST.

The follow-up to 2004's "Scars of the Crucifix", "The Stench of Redemption" was recorded at Morrisound in Tampa, Florida and marks the first recording with the new Deicide lineup following the departure of the Hoffman brothers. Joining frontman Glen Benton and drummer Steve Asheim in the new formation are guitarists Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ralph Santolla (ex-Iced Earth, Death).

Deicide - Album Was NOT 'Banned' Due To Content

Ginza.se, one of Sweden's largest online music stores, has dismissed as "completely wrong" a press release issued by Earache Records claiming that "Ginza.se has barred the sale of Deicide's latest album, 'The Stench of Redemption', citing the blasphemous CD sleeve art, controversial lyrical subject matter and the fact that Deicide mainman Glen Benton has an upside-down cross branded into the center of his forehead as their reasoning."

In an e-mail sent to blabbermouth.net earlier today, Nisse Jonson, Ginza.se's Purchase Manager, stated, "This is completely wrong. We don't have any problems regarding Deicide more than that their last productions didn't sell very well in our webshop. Therefore we didn't purchase it in the first place."

Deicide - Album Banned By Swedish Online CD Store

According to Earache Records, one of Sweden's largest online music stores, Ginza.se, has barred the sale of Deicide's latest album, "The Stench of Redemption", citing the blasphemous CD sleeve art, controversial lyrical subject matter and the fact that Deicide mainman Glen Benton has an upside-down cross branded into the center of his forehead as their reasoning. This has consequently led to Ginza.se taking the unprecedented step of removing all traces of previous Deicide releases from their online store aswell.

This action follows quickly on from the news that U.K. TV channel Scuzz TV have also refused to play the video for Deicide's "Homage For Satan" due to its ? in their view ? offensive content.

Deicide Complete 'Homage For Satan' Video Shoot

Satan's favourite sons Deicide spent 12 hours locked up in baking
Floridian conditions last weekend while they filmed the video for the
skin-flaying new track 'Homage For Satan'. In temperatures reaching
almost 100º Fahrenheit, the band ripped through the track again and
again with a level of energy and enthusiasm that would destroy many less
committed bands, drummer Steve Asheim in particular pulling of the
almost inhuman feat of playing for 12 hours straight in broiling
conditions without dropping a beat.

Never one to be outdone, Glen Benton then upped the stakes considerably
by donning the now legendary God deflecting armour, last seen at the
Roadrunner All Stars show, and performing the latter part of the video
shoot effectively wearing a second skin. Add to that some blistering
guitar work from Jack Owen and Ralph Santolla and the climactic scene of
the video where Glen is seen spewing forth bile and you just know that
this might just be one of the most intense videos of 2006. Directorial
duties on 'Homage For Satan' are handled by Detroit based crew Scrambled
Visual, who will be filming some additional Christ-baiting material back
in Detroit this weekend.

Expect 'Homage For Satan' to be hitting your TV screens later this
month, if you can't wait that long, head on over to iTunes where you can
currently download an exclusive early mix of 'Homage For Satan' as part
of 'The Stench Of Redemption 666 EP'. The album 'The Stench Of
Redemption' will be in stores August 21st (UK/ Europe) August 22nd (USA).

Deicide re-sign with Earache for two albums

Legendary Florida death metal band Deicide have re-signed with Earache Records for a worldwide 2-album deal. After witnessing Earache's results with "Scars Of The Crucifix", the band have decided to extend their relationship with the label for two more albums.

Since Deicide originally signed with Earache in 2003 for "Scars Of The Crucifix", the band and the label have made great strides together. In its first week out, 'Scars Of The Crucifix', debuted at #18 on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart and #24 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart in the US, hitting both charts higher than any other metal band. In 2004, "Scars" has sold more copies worldwide than any other Earache release this year. Earache commissioned Deicide's first-ever video, for the title track off "Scars", and saw to it that it aired on MTV2, Fuse, Kerrang TV, and Scuzz TV. Around the release of "Scars", Earache secured press covergae for Deicide in such mags as AP, Guitar World, and Revolver in the US, and Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, and Terrorizer in the UK.

Earache is proud now to announce Deicide have chosen to renew this mutually beneficial relationship. Earache's Al Dawson had this to say about the re-signing, "Deicide are a great band who have stood the test of time. They're super cool guys and we're psyched to continue working with them."

Deicide's Brian Hoffman declared:
"I am very happy to be on the best death metal label there is."

Deicide cancel their European tour

After a performance at the Dynamo festival on June 5, the band entered the U.K. but declined to play the London show on June 8 ? opting instead to fly home to Florida, citing their anger and frustration at the transportation and financial arrangements provided by the tour agent. It does not affect any other shows DEICIDE have booked in the USA.
