Dark Funeral - MNW/No Fashion Records Dispute Over

Original Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman has posted the following update:

"Seven years of pure bullshit has finally come to an end... un-fucken- believable!

Without going into any details, (which I'm not allowed to either), what's most important here and now is that we finally have obtained the rights to our back catalogue, including the publishing rights. That includes; "The Secrets Of The Black Arts", "Vobiscum Satanas", "Teach Children To..." and "Diabolis Interium".

And from now on, NO one but Caligula (vocals, bass) and I own the rights to above mentioned albums. One may believe I/we would be totally thrilled about this, be running around in pentagrams, throwing bibles in a fire and whatnot, but I honestly feel pretty empty. Guess it'll take a while to let it all sunk in to realize that this battle finally is over, after seven f*ing years! I'm sure I'll get it all eventually... and celebrate it one way or another. But right now I feel nothing.

Anyway, somehow I feel that this is already old news, an old chapter in our dark saga. And I won't spend any more of my valuable time to ever put "their" name in my mouth again. So let us just put this behind us immediately. Let us now focus on gathering some new energy, look at the future - a future without label hassles and such utterly bullshit. It's time to set full course to complete the new album, booking new tours among many other grand things, which I know many of you are waiting for. Basically, let´s get busy again, and foremost enjoy being busy again!

PS. Please respect the fact that we won't answer any questions regarding this, already old and forgotten news. Thanx!"

Dark Funeral are currently working on new material for their upcoming 2009 studio album.

Dark Funeral - To Enter The Studio

Dark Funeral's guitarist Lord Ahriman has posted the following MySpace blog today:

"So, finally it's time... On Monday Aug 18, Chaq Mol and I will enter the studio together with producer Örjan Örnkloo (Misery Loves CO) to begin the songwriting process of a new, yet untitled full-length album.

Exactly how long it will take is hard to say, but the plan is to be done with a pre-production within the next 3-4 weeks. We already have quite some material written so I feel that we are as pre-prepared as we can be at this stage.

We will only work in the studio during the weekdays. So every weekend when we're home we'll post a studio report to keep you updated. Anyway, time to get busy. Talk to you in about a week again."

Dark Funeral - Working On New Album

Swedish Black Metallers Dark Funeral have posted the following update:

"I guess it's about time to let you guys know what's going on here. Well, we are currently working on material for a new full-length album. We're in the very early stages of the writing process though. There's still a lot of work before we're ready to hit the studio, but we're on the right course at least!

Plan is, however, to be ready to record a new album sometime during 2008, with a possible early 2009 release (but it all depends on when we're ready to record and so on, of course). We will keep you posted on the writing progress and what kind of time plan we'll put up for the new album.

We have also renewed our contract with Regain Records. So we will be releasing the next album through them too.

In the meantime, and during the wait for our new studio album, I'd suggest that you check out two killer DVDs that we have released, "Attera Orbis Terrarum" parts 1 & 2 (part two will be released on May 22). A trailer for the up-coming DVD will soon be posted on the band´s MySpace website and YouTube channel. Also, keep your eyes open for the date when we'll launch our webstore "DIABOLISWEAR!"

Dark Funeral - Recruit New Drummer

Dark Funeral posted the following on there Official Website & Official Myspace Page:

"Ave!

I guess by now most of you, if not all, have realised that Matte Modin is no longer in the band. I won't go into any details as why at this point, but I guess if you read the
statement Caligula made a couple of weeks ago it should be quite obvious...

Anyway, we have for the past few weeks been busy rehearsing with a new AMAZING drummer. And all I can say is WOW! He totally nails the songs exactly as they are played on the albums, with every single hit on the snare, kick, cymbals, etc, just a little bit better. Might sound a bit weird to you, but now with a new maniac behind the kit one realise that a lot of things have actually been missing from the drum department when we've played the songs live. Not anymore though. And I'm sure things will just get better.

With a new drummer onboard we have also come to realise another important thing. And that is how much we have destroyed some of our songs when we have performed them live. Nothing wrong with hyper speed, but apparently we have been blinded by the speed factor and brought it to a level where it, unfortunately, have ruined the genuine atmosphere, the melodies, and the heaviness of the songs. Now that's in the past. With the new drummer we play the songs in perfect harmony with the speed (perhaps a little bit faster than on the records, but now with total control) and it sounds phenomenal!!!

Anyway, our new drummer actually made his live debut with us in Germany a couple of weeks ago (Hellraiser Open Air & Rock Hard Festival). And considering the very short time we had to rehearse with him before these shows, it went pretty damn fine I must say.

Now I guess you're curious to know who the new guy is, right!? Well, I won't hold your breath any longer. Let's raise the horns high and welcome Nils Fjällström (Aeon/Sanctification etc) to Dark Funeral! Since this guy totally dominate on drums, he will from now on go under the pseudonym "Dominator".

Dominator comment; "I am deeply honoured to play the music of Dark Funeral and inspired by the challenge! I would like to thank Lord Ahriman, Emperor Magus Caligula, Chaq Mol and B-Force for their confidence in me!" Now I can't wait to hit the road and eventually start working on new material with the band! See you on the road!

Dark Funeral - Shows In Latvia And Lithuania Postponed

Swedish Black Metallers Dark Funeral have posted the follwing on their official site: "There's now over a week since all of our gear (guitars, bass, wireless systems, cymbals etc) was confiscated by the police in Peru. And we still have not received any news if or when it will be returned to us. At this point of time one can only speculate, but things doesn't look good though.

There's not easy for us to say this, believe me, but due to the current situation we are unfortunately forced to 'postpone' our up-coming shows in Latvia and Lithuania. We can, as anyone might understand, not afford to buy a whole new backline just like that, and/or in time for these 2 shows, which are scheduled this coming weekend already.

We understand this will leave a lot of you people disappointed, including the local promoters, but we sure hope to have this literally fucked up situation sorted out real soon, and new dates scheduled and announced to you shortly".

Dark Funeral's official statement, regarding the incident in Peru, can be read here .

Dark Funeral - Comment On Peru Incident

Swedish black metallers Dark Funeral performed an all-instrumental set in Lima, Peru Sunday night (October 8) after the group's vocalist/bassist Emperor Magnus Caligula was taken ill. A near-riot followed the concert, with several irate fans destroying property around the concert venue as a way of registering their dissatisfaction over what they felt was a less than adequate performance.
Watch video footage of Dark Funeral fans engaging in post-concert vandalism:
video no 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEXRWhZBl_g
video no 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ_5yzABnoI

The band posted comment on their official myspace website about this incident:

"Finally back home again after a killer tour in Latin America, except for the somewhat chaotic ending in Peru. I guess it's about time to set the record straight and explain what really happened there.

After a killer show in Santiago (Chile), Caligula started to feel sick. And to tell you the truth, it's a real miracle that no one else in the band got sick during this tour. Travel-wise it was the hardest tour in our career. Late shows and very early flights every fucking day, which left us with not more than 1-2 hours sleep per night. Sure, that kind of schedule works a couple of days, or perhaps a week, but after 2+ weeks ? one is pretty much a wreck. Despite this, we still managed to give 110% at every show, except for the last one in Peru, which of course sucks as much for us as for the fans.

Anyway, shortly after the Santiago show, and during the flight over to Peru, Caligula started to feel really sick. And by the time we arrived at the airport in Peru he had high fever and had completely lost his voice. So the very first thing we did when we met up with the local promoter was to ask for a doctor, which was arranged very quickly. Our hope was of course that Caligula would get some medicine so he could at least get back his voice and be able to pull off that one last show. Unfortunately his condition was much worse than what we expected it to be. The doctor literally said that it was of biggest importance that he did not sing during the next 14 days. If he did, he would take a serious risk to get severe problems with his voice in the future. And if someone really believes that he wanted to take that chance and sing that night, you got to be really fucking stupid.

At this point we told the Peruvian promoter that we would unfortunately be forced to cancel the show but that we were ready to do whatever we could from our side to at least give the fans something. I mean, we were, after all, in the country and everyone but Caligula was feeling OK, except for the fact that we were all very fucking tired. The Peruvian promoter said he would not accept any other solution other than that we played. He said if we didn't play, with or without Caligula, all hell would break loose. Well, as we all now know, it happened anyway. Normally, if one of us get sick on tour and can't perform ? we cancel. But trust me, it will take a lot before we go as far as cancelling a show. After a long discussion between the band, the tour manager and the local promoter, who literally were begging us to play with or without Caligula, we decided that it would indeed be the best for everyone, including the fans, that we played after all, and that would have to be without Caligula, who at this point of time couldn't get a word out of his mouth.
