Freedom Call - Studio Update

There is a update by Daniel:

"Hi folks again,
the production of the new album "The Circle of Life" is about to be finished. We're more than happy about the result! Philip and Sascha did a great job, the whole thing sounds alive and kicking. Each song has been given its individual soundspectrum and gained even more positive results.

And here we go for the tracklist of the 12 songs:The Gathering, The Rhythm of life, Mother Earth, Starchild, Kings and Queens, High enough, Hunting high and low, Hero Nation, The Eternal Flame, Starlight and titletrack "The Circle of Life".

Release has definetely been set to the second half of March 2005 but an exact release-date wasn't put on table yet. Right after the release there are plans for touring. I'll keep ya updated.
See ya"

Snakeskin - Message From Tilo Wolff

Taken from Lacrimosa website:

"From the buttom of my heart I want to thank everyone who believed in me and in Snakeskin and with that supported this new side-project, nevertheless the music is very dark and sometimes unpleasant!! This means very much to me as you express therewith how much my music and its contents mean to you!!
And for those who still have prejudice against Snakeskin I hope that you one day will learn that emotional art does not exist in limitations!
I wish you all a beautiful and intensive autumn and for those who live on the other side of the planet
I wish you a beautiful and not too hot summer!
Tilo Wolff"

Iommi & Hughes: New album, hopefully next year

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi and occasional collaborator Glenn Hughes are recording a new album, which they hope to release in 2005. Iommi told Launch that the pair ? who recently released some recordings they made together in 1996 ? will resume working in December and finish early in the New Year. Sanctuary Records will release the album, and Iommi and Hughes hope to tour in support of it.

Kenny Aronoff ? whose credits include JOHN MELLENCAMP, JOHN FOGERTY, SMASHING PUMPKINS, MELISSA ETHERIDGE, and MICHELLE BRANCH, among others ? is playing drums for the project.

Hughes, a former member of TRAPEZE and DEEP PURPLE, sang on the 1986 album "Seventh Star", which began as an Iommi solo album but was billed, at the record company's insistence, as "BLACK SABBATH featuring Tony Iommi."

Iommi and Hughes recently issued "The 1996 DEP Sessions", featuring eight tracks recorded at DEP Studios in Birmingham, England, which is owned by the reggae band UB40.

White Willow - A Message From The Band

A message from this excellent progressive band from Norway, posted on their website by Jacob:

"One down, a few more to go
So last night we played at Ås. Sort of a hard place to find, but we got there eventually, and we had a really nice time playing there. A very friendly vibe from the audience, and a relaxed vibe on stage as well. So thanks to Alf Haakon and to the people who showed up. By the way, we saw some cameras flashing. If anyone has some pics from Galleri Texas they want to send us, feel free! I don't believe anyone associated with the band took pictures that night. Next up are the gigs in Kristiansand and Trondheim, but we still don't have the confirmed dates, so stand by. You may already have heard that Lars' other band, Wobbler, has been confirmed for NEARfest 2005. Congrats to the band. And to anyone considering going to NEARfest - do it for Wobbler. They are worth it".

Candlemass - The kings of doom are back!!

The kings of doom are back!!
Just when you thought it was over the corpse lives again and is resurrected
healthier, better and gloomier than ever.
Messiah, Leif, Jan, Lars and Mappe. The classic line-up refuse to die!!

We understand this is very confusing for you, since the band disbanded just 6 months ago. But hey - why bother about stupid details when you will have a brand new Candlemass album in your hand before next summer. The boys will enter the famous Stockholm Polar Studios nov 26, mix in january and bless us with an album in may sometime. Perfect for Candlemass 20 year anniversary!

According to what Leif said before, the band couldn't agree on how to proceed after the reunion, so they decided it was best to put the beast of doom to sleep. It is always the best thing when five people want the same thing. And indeed, it looks like they've overcome the individual problems for a united effort to do something great.

Leif: - I had a bunch of pretty cool songs, talked to Mappe quite a lot during the summer and we both agreed it would be stupid not to do anything with it. At Mappes wedding in august we all went up on a small stage and performed Samarithan and Solitude with pink guitars plus a really shitty sound. We were all absolutely drunk and we had suits and everything on us, but it was great fun!! I think it was that occasion that made us reconsider.
Shortly after I started to roughly demo some new tracks. I think I like did five tracks in a couple of weeks with a friend helping out.
Then we had a meeting and decided to resurrect Candlemass, book the studio, and send out a three song demo to the record companies a.s.a.p.
So we recorded "Black Dwarf" and "Spellbreaker" and put "Witches" from the previous demo on it and I think the demo is on the way to the labels right now actually.
Yes, we have two weeks in Polar booked without a deal, ha-ha!! But I'm not worried. I'm sure some smart label guy realize that a new Candlemass album can outsell most of the usual crap that is released today.
We are a unique band with a unique sound and next summer will belong to Candlemass!!

Black Sabbath - A Cover Competition For The Fans

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi's official message board http://www.iommimessageboard.co.uk/ has launched a competition inspired by a topic started by Nero Kalem. This is how it will work:

1. Design an album cover picture related to Black Sabbath in some way, whether it be a song title, an alternative album cover or a new Black Sabbath album cover.

2. Upload your picture to the web, send the URL through a PM, it will be posted on the message board for all to see. Another way of doing it is to upload it to the "Ideal Black Sabbath Album Covers" thread saying that you want it as a competition entry, and it will be added to the competition thread.

One entry per member, please.

The prize is a copy of "The 1996 DEP Sessions" signed by both Tony Iommi and Glenn Hughes. The competition will be judged by Tony Iommi himself.

Soulgrind - new album completed

SOULGRIND, the Finnish band featuring former LULLACRY frontwoman Tanja "Whisper Lilith" Kemppainen (a.k.a. Tanya), have completed the recordings for their new album, "The Origins of the Paganblood", and are currently mixing the effort for a late January 2005 release via France's Holy Records. The band have abandoned the idea of including a DVD with the new album due to a "lack of time and money," according to a posting on the group's web site. "All of the studio budget has been spent the forthcoming album to make it great," the band write. "We noticed that less is better. With a double budget we would have done the DVD and live album. BUT the live material shall be released someday through the Internet." Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Prophecy", "Northlander", "When Those Nights Have Circled Over", "Paganblood" and "Flesh Marionette".

In other news, SOULGRIND have negotiated a deal with Icarus Records for the rights to their 1997 album, "Whitsongs". "We are near the conclusion," the band write on their web site. "SOULGRIND shall get the rights for the album and we are planning to release it by ourselves or we shall re-release it through a cool label. Album has done well in South America, but due lack of advertising etc. rest is mystery. Interested parties should contact us via soulgrind@jippii.fi."

Redemption - New Recording Complete

There is a little message from Nick:

"Hey everybody!

Time for an update. We've finished tracking all of the music and vocals for the new CD and they sound incredible. We're very excited for you all to hear it! It came out very heavy, very song-oriented but quite progressive as well. And Ray, as I suspected, has taken it to a new level with his amazing vocals.

I'll have some mixing news for you in a few weeks. Thanks for your continued interest and support!

Best,

Nick"

Primordial - Update From The Studio

"Part 5: From the day I left off till now...
3 days left of mixing

You would think the amount of time I spend skiving off in the studio that I would find the time to continue the diary I started back when we came in. What can I say, I'm like a kid with a shiny toy. quickly bored of it all and waiting for the next brightly coloured impulse purchase to attract my attention.
Well what can I say again, everything's done, we are mixing right now. or rather Billy is flinging himself headlong into the mix and we attempt to go home early and skive off to varying degrees.

It sounds massive, really heavy, dark and so tragic that I cant think of anything to compare it to. we trusted in the songs and right now I am pleased to say we are slowly being rewarded.
Well hey, that's just me
Perhaps its our cold lake, right ?.

So the cover and the pictures for it are starting to take shape and master Paul mccarroll from unhinged art and scald is going to be executing these ideas pretty soon. keeping it in the family bro'...
The DVD looms nearer and nearer and we have ten hours of footage shot to sift through as well.
joy.

Slowly but surely the wheels are turning and the gathering wilderness is complete.

more soon"
