Belphegor - New Album Title, Tracklist And Cover Art Revealed

Original news, posted on 11.06.2009

Black/ Death Metal titans Belphegor have set "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn" as the title of their 8th full length studio album due out in October 2009. "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn" marks the follow up to the groups extremely successful 2008 release "Bondage Goat Zombie".

Here's what frontman Helmuth has to say: "The title fits perfect to the whole concept, the lyrical themes. Its typical Belphegor, involving symbology and double meanings. I have always been fascinated by the idea and atmosphere surrounding witches, their magic, the insane sabbath/ ceremonies - and all the obscurity that goes with it. With the nine sound collages, the verses, artwork we continue our descent into the depths of musical hell."

Belphegor - Hard At Work On New Material

Brachial metal outfit Belphegor are in the final stages of the writing process for their upcoming, as of yet untitled album, the follow up to 2008's "Bondage Goat Zombie".

Posted by Helmuth on the official site: "Yeah, brothers and sisters, currently we're working on nine sound collages. We started directly in April 2008 after the "Bondage Goat Zombie" release, to create the new compositions/arrangements for the eight Werk, 6sikk6 songs basically completely finished. Words can't really describe how enthusiastic and motivated we are, to get into the studio and record this monster, it feels great to be creative again. Nefastus will be responsible for the drums on that album, he also blasted on "Pestapokalypse VI". He is an old friend to the Belphegor family. We rehearse day and night since December to make it as tight and monumental as possible, stay tuned demons... hell awaits!"

The highly anticipated album is scheduled for a worldwide release date of October 2nd 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records. More news on that soon, later on we will reveal the title of the album, track names and images.

Belphegor - New Video Online

Extreme metallers Belphegor have debuted the video of the title track of their forthcoming album "Bondage Goat Zombie" a few days ago, exclusively at MySpace Metal.

Helmuth commented: "The video to "Bondage Goat Zombie" delivers a four minute sound wall of total destruction and melodic riff explosions. The hymn relates to the Belphegor trademark of Satanism, the devils pact and BDSM. Veneratio Diaboli - Die Toten reiten Schnell (The Dead Ride Fast).
The title track "Bondage Goat Zombie" is distinguished in English, German and Latin, and contains some of the most aggressive vocal work I've ever unleashed. Belphegor will continue to keep the fucking devil and demonic spirit in Metal music alive, unleash more energy, and give the die-hard brothers and sisters ultimate hell."

Turisas - Premiere Rasputin Video Clip

It is truly something very special what infamous Finnish folk metal warriors Turisas unleash upon you now with the premiere of their fantastic new clip "Rasputin", an insane cover version of the old Boney M. classic every fan should already recognise from their unforgettable live shows.

Band mastermind Warlord comments the clip as follows: "This video is pretty far from what you'd expect from a Turisas-video - or any metal video for that matter! The idea to the video is just as wild as the cover song itself: a battle metal band covering a 70's disco hit. Just as the song, it is a crossover of the 70's kitsch attached to the Boney M - track, but performed by us as we do it. Director Vesa-Matti Vainio and the whole crew did a great job on this one and to me, this is a good pick for our first video ever. I assure you, there are plenty of ideas on epic spectacles to be looked into later."

So cover your disco plateau boots with blood by dancing wildly on this one! Watch the clip here:
http://www.myspace.com/turisasofficial

Turisas' version of "Rasputin" will be available on the "Rasputin" Single, which will hit stores on the following dates:

Germany: Friday, September 21, 2007.
UK / France / Various other territories: Monday, September 24, 2007.
Spain: Tuesday, September 25, 2007.
Finland: Wednesday, September 26, 2007.

It will be released as CD-Single also including the band's classic tune ?Battle Metal" as well as strictly limited Picture 7" vinyl featuring "The Court Of Jarisleif" as B-Side.

Turisas - To Release "Rasputin" As A Single

Finland's battle metallers Turisas will be swapping their blood soaked furs and axes for the glitter & glitz of the 70's disco era with the release of their debut single 'Rasputin' on 24th September.

On the release of their interpretation of the classic disco hit originally by Boney M, Warlord Nygard comments "We've been begged to record Rasputin pretty much since we first played it live a couple of years back. It's amazing how popular this cover version of ours have become at our gigs during the last year and it really makes us feel like we must have done something right here looking at big crowds going totally mental over a 70's disco hit! I remember getting the idea for this cover years back - in 2001 I think. I was on a ferry trip between Finland and Sweden and there was this cover band performing 70's disco hits. The minute they blasted 'Rasputin' I knew, that at some point, we would need to do it in some form or another. It was just obvious that it would work amazingly well given a slightly more modern and heavier touch-up. Personally I've always preferred these old 70's disco bands".

The band were busy filming the video for 'Rasputin' in Hämeenlinna, Finland with director Vesa-Matti Vainio(Vasarafilms) earlier this week and Warlord reported back "We had a tough day yesterday shooting the video for 'Rasputin' and now my whole body is aching. The setting for the video is really weird but cool! Think Saturday Night Fever meets Turisas with a worn out East-European twist... Mirror balls, high heels, high waists, cocktails, hotpants vs. fur, blood, dirt and sweat. Quite a combo!". A link to the video will be made available very soon.

The cover art for this single can be found at this location

It seems we have only been over for short one-off support and festival sets, but now that will finally change. We felt so bad about us having to cancel a show in London earlier this year, that we are now not only returning to make up for that show, but with a full tour consisting of eight shows across the country.
