Black Sabbath - To Release New Album And Tour Again

Despite the hints that Black Sabbath's show at London's Hyde Park this last July could be their last, the heavy metal legends will be touring again, according to frontman Ozzy Osbourne. In a recent interview to Metal Hammer magazine, he confirms that the band will start working on a new album next year and then do one final tour.

Black Sabbath will team up with producer Rick Rubin once again to record the successor to 2013's successful 13 album. The band won a Grammy for "Best Metal Performance" for the song "God Is Dead?".

"The whole Sabbath experience this time around was great," says Ozzy. "We all made friends, we didn't fuck around, we all knew that we had a job to do, and we did it. It was a lot of fun. So we're going to do one more album, and a final tour. Once the dust settled after the last tour we started discussing the idea, because we were getting asked about it all the time. I said to Sharon 'What's going on? Because if there's no more Sabbath I want to get on with my own thing again' and she came back and said 'Let me look into it.' Three weeks later I asked her about it again, and she said 'Oh, I still have to talk to so and so...' and I said 'Sharon, I ain't fucking 21 any more, if we're going to do I want to do it before I'm 70!' Time isn't on our side! So she made the call and came back and said 'Yeah, the record company wants another album.' I believe Rick Rubin is going to do it with us again."

Although the trio has no new material written for what will be their fourteenth studio album, Osbourne anticipates that sessions will begin early in 2015.

"It'll be sooner rather than later," the singer insists. "Obviously a lot of it is coming down to Tony's health, he's obviously got his cancer treatment, but we'll get onto it next year. I don't know if we'll be writing in England or LA, but I'll fly to the fucking moon for it if I have to!"

Oh fuck you Rick Rubin

Yep, that's the sound on this record knackered before it's even written.

Very surprising. The end of 'Dear Father' is the beginning of 'Black Sabbath' so I was 99% sure that '13' will be their last album.

Yeah, I thought that would serve as like a bookend effect for their career really, so I'm surprised by them making a new album. Should be interesting regardless.

If only it was a better producer and they got that one fella to drum for them again...little William Ward from Birmingham I believe.

I thought it did, too. But it was album number 19, so the temptation to do album 20 was always going to be strong.

I hope so.

I just don't get why bands let producers like Rick Rubin bugger up their albums for them... just... why?

Althoiugh the production of the CD release was 'brickwalled' beyond the horrific, the sound quality of the vinyl seemed completely the opposite and totally excellent. At any rate, really looking forward to whenever the 20th record will surface!

Personally i loved 13. Especially the end of dear father. I thought i was a great 'final' album. It will be such a shame if the next one isn't as good. You should go out on a high fellas. Not risk it by trying to squeeze one last album out. I would also love to see Bill back but he wont unless they let him do the whole tour (without a back up drummer) and they wouldnt risk it last time so i doubt it'll happen. Shame.

I don't get why people get so obsessed with Rick's production...
Imo '13' is great. Really, I don't get it. Well, Death Magnetic's was quite bad but not on '13'...
Maybe a matter of taste...

While I agree almost everything in music is subjective, the clipping on 13 is horrible. Just listen to the intro of the first track, the drum fills are especially bad. It's not like it's at some kind of low level that only bothers audiophiles, it's really noticeable.

Wow, you must be into musical production or something I've listened the first track with headphones and i must admit that cymbals sound pretty bad, yes. Probably they're clipped but overall i don't really find the sound so bad... or annoying. To listen into regular speakers it's OK. (Now I say that it's not so good production, not 'great').
And what a surprise, around 3:33 - ·3:34 Ozzy's voice is ridiculously overdubbed!
I´m gonna check whole album with my headphones... Maybe you're right, guys, and Rick is (NOW) a jackass haha.

Besides this, and to get back on topic, i don't know if Rick is going to produce the new songs the same way again and sincerely i don't know what to expect from the album...

I hope lack of idea don't make it non-inspirational and an average album.
