Bolt Thrower - Set To Return To Australia After 22 Years

British death metal titans Bolt Thrower will be returning to Australia for the first time in 22 years, to play the Black Conjuration Fest, and some selected club shows. Australian outlaws Cauldron Black Ram will be joining us as national support, with other local support coming from Portal, Cruciform, Inverloch and Beyond Mortal Dreams. Confirmed dates and venues are available down below.

The band comments: "At the end of September it will be exactly 22 years since we played in Australia. So with the help of Black Conjuration Fest, we're chuffed to add Australia as the next country on our revisit list."

Tour dates as follows:

24th Sept. - Max Watts, Brisbane
25th Sept. - Black Conjuration Fest, Adelaide
26th Sept. - Factory Theatre, Sydney
27th Sept. - 170 Russell, Melbourne

Any particular reason (besides money) for missing out for 22 years? I know Australia is kind of isolated but 22 is a lot.

Bolt Thrower haven't done real proper tours for a long time. Usually they play one off club shows. It's even rare for them to attend festivals. They declined Wacken (good on BT ) and most festivals. ONe of the very few festivals they playd was last September Baroeg Open Air in Rotterdam

The band said they wouldn't bother with a new album as they can't better "Those Once Loyal." A lot of bands could learn something here.

Perhaps. I don't think that philosophy really applies to them, though. They've surpassed their own excellence before (as well as that of many other bands) and I'm sure they're more than capable of doing it again. In my opinion, they'd be better off just admitting they didn't want to write any more new material. It would be one thing if they were a run-of-the-mill death metal band using war-themed material on the side as a gimmick, but they're not. They're death metal legends with an innate, raw understanding of how war translates into music.
