    What the hell, triple album?!

    Oh. my. god.

I haven't been a total fan of their newer stuff, they never quite went towards the way their debut pointed, but ofc I am hyped for this.

I love Swallow The Sun, I love all their albums and for me they have been consistently good, even on Emerald Forest which everyone seems to hate.

But I have to say I am worried that they might sacrifice quality for quantity, STS has never been a Funeral Doom band, actually to me they've been more melodeath than doom at all, and the only funeral doom I like is Ahab so I worry that the last album may not be great.

I am excited for the acoustic approach, their brief foray into acoustic territory with the title track and This Cut Is The Deepest and a few other tracks on Emerald Forest was one of the best parts of that album.

I wouldn't worry - Ahab is easily-digestible funeral doom and a StS attempt on said genre will be accessible to the max It is indeed worrying that they've written 2.5 hours of music though...we'll see!

Hm, 66°50´N,28°40´E, exactly at this roundabout?

Obviously could have been more creative with the art, but holy shit so much good stuff coming from Finland this year.

This has been such a monumental year for doom (especially funeral doom), and I can't think of a better way to round off a fantastic year for music than with this colossal triptych by Swallow The Sun!

One thing I've never quite understood however is why their debut seems to be revered above all subsequent albums. To me, Hope is clearly superior, as is the magnificent EP Plague Of Butterflies; I think unlike many, I've always liked the melodeath element in STS the least and favoured their slower paced doom much more. More "Doomed To Walk The Earth", less "Deadly Nightshade", is where I enjoyed this band the most.

In any case, my anticipation is at a boiling point...

Hoping for some Finn to tell me whats so special about Salla...

The artwork is cool, i like it. Nothing too fancy, looks like an old book cover. Me gusta.
As for the album, i doubt all songs will be great. I expect some filler here and there.
But if they show this much confidence about their new material, i'll hope for the best, that means something at the level of their first record.

At least they're releasing it all together. Not like Virgin Black, which never released the third part of the Requiem trilogy.

Artwork is really dumb. For such a massive and epic record they really should've gone for a much better work.
