Unbelievable that In Flames won over Dismember or Grave, certainly in a Death metal category... And as long as we're talking popularity of over-hyped bands, where's Opeth? Not that I care, but I find it pretty strange nonetheless. Already the second time they get dissed by the Swedes. Guess they're not that popular in their own country as I thought.

Nah. A lot of us (me included) sure don't like Opeth. The Opeth fans I've met are usually people conforming to the emo/metalcore kid stereotype anyways. I don't think I've met that many real metal fans who've enjoyed Opeth (except over the Internet). But then again, this list is the source of major lols, and a lot of us don't like In Flames that much either, so that might not mean a thing when it comes to these things.

Also: at Evergrey for alternative metal....

In Flames always wins everything, no matter what it is, so we shouldn't really take this seriously.

well, in Sweden the most well known metal bands wins this kind of awards.. Amon Amarth & Opeth isnt so much very well known or famous as In Flames or Hammerfall..

As much as I dislike Opeth and the culture that surrounds them, I would rather have them win the swedish death metal spot than bloody In Flames

The Grammy shit doesn't really deserve to be taken seriously, neither does Swedish Metal Awards, obviously... I mean, at least at Grammis-galan (as it's called in Sweden), it's almost always the same artists that get nominated every year, even in the non-metal categories. Boring! But I don't really think you can compete in music anyway, so...

Anyway, to get some facts straight around here, apparently the organization classifies "Thrash, Black and Doom" in the Metal Category, and "Modern, Nu and Progressive" got sorted in the Alternative Metal Category, so that's why.
