Septic Flesh were a Greek atmospheric Death Metal band with great albums under their belt, Esoptron has got to be my favourite. They disbanded in 2003, feeling that "they have reached everything they wanted with Septic Flesh, musically". Especially their last album "Sumerian Demons" is quite known and beloved by many.

Anyone into them in here?

One of the best death metal bands that i have heard ever...they combined traditional death metal with melodic influences(not swedish style)and a melancholic atmospaire and in some songs they have some technical death within...I would suggest to all who like atmosphairic death metal or brutal death(songs like Red Code Cult will sutisfy you)to check them...

My favourite albums are"Mystic Places of Dawn"which is really a masterpiece, very melodic indeed and grievious and a mezmerising feeling at all songs..."Esoptron"for sure a great album but the sound is really crap and it really sad cause they have killer songs inside.

Their latest album "Summerian Daemon"when i listened it i was like What the hell was that???It is such a unique album i have never heard something like that...it varies from brutal death metal to melodic death metal and carries throughout the album a haunted atmosphaire and some really grievious songs like When All is none...

Check them i am sure you will like them..

Cant wait till Metal Healing to see them Live!!

WHOA!! The new Septic Flesh album is fucking great, even better than the last one. It's shorter and more to the point, but more epic! The choirs and orchestrations are even more epic than Therion. They even picked the pace up and even with the classical sounds it's their most brutal album. It's probably the best thing to come out so far this year.

The last song is quite weak though, especially when compared to the other songs. Quite an anti-climatic way of ending an album, considering how fucking epic most of the other tracks sound... :/

I heard it before two days, and yes it's better, more powerfull and with more atmospheric elements. I also like the clean vocals, like I said in another topic, but too bad that they didn't use more of them! this will probably take the second place after Rotting Christ's Theogonia...

I actually wasn't too big on the clean vocals. Maybe it's because I like his deep growl so much, but I dunno, they still help the music I guess.

but why ? this reminds me of the mighty Emperor! seriously, if Emperor won't release another album, Communion and Septic Flesh with this sound, can take their place.

Well, Septic Flesh isn't black metal, so I doubt they're taking Emperor's place. As for the singing, I'm not opposed to the idea, but I don't like the way his voice sounds.

yes they are not black metal, but their atmosphere and keyboards and the clean vocals reminds me of Emperor.

I'm just getting a full taste of the new Septic Flesh album now... I'm not sure if it totally equals their 2003 disc, but "Communion" is really growing on me with each listen. "Lovecraft's Death" and "Anubis" so far I like the best, but after only 2 listens, it's hard to judge what will be my favorite in the long term. I do like the clean vocals! Though I also agree that it's hard to compete with such masterful extreme vocals here.

The orchestral synth melodies in "Lovecraft's Death" are so imposing and ominous; they create some of the best atmospheres of the past year... I only wish they were more prominent throughout the disc!

I've not completed the listening of Summerian Daemons but I feel Communion is a bit better. Sunlight Moonlight and Anubis are the best tracks. I can't stop listening the new album. And the lyrics (for those who like ancient history) are great!!!

I've not listened their first albums but I can tell you that Summerian Daemons has only growling vocals and you may not like it (although it is great) but Revolution DNA has a bit more clean vocals than Communion and more mid-tempos songs so you may like it more.

yeah, when i saw them they played only 14 songs and i was looking for more. this is something that made me a little sad.. but they are very good and the singer is a very good frontman IMO.

I'll see them with Cradle of Filth and Satyricon on January 17th!!! Since COF and SepticFlesh are among my favourite bands, I can't wait!!! Communion is the only album from them I could find since I don't live in a city... As a matter of fact, I bought it on iTunes store and I instantly fell in love with that band. Communion is so epic and the symphonies are just grand! I hope they're symphonic live, because I saw them on youtube and there was no recorded choir or orchestra... Just great guitars and drums, but still, it didn't sound at all like SepticFlesh.

Or - like myself and a few friends - leave the place before CoF starts and go across the street to the cheap bar and drink there! I'll be going to the tour stop near me without a doubt, and I just saw Septic Flesh & Satyricon this summer @Hellfest!

all those are very good ideas but not very plausible because I'm only 18 and can't legally drink.

I may just sit through CoF and keep it as a story to tell everyone how terrible they where and how the bands before CoF outplayed them. I'm pretty sure it'll happen

Well guys i do not want to say much about Septic Flesh!I will just say that they were very underrated in the past but now with continuous touring i see that there is a rise of their popularity and this makes me really happy.
As for their music with one word, unique!Everything is great, from the very esoteric and bizarre lyrics till the last element of their instruments i feel something that makes me shiver.

Mystic Places of Dawn is a masterpiece
Ophidian Wheel is a masterpiece
Esoptron is masterpiece
Revolution DNA is strange

I saw Septic Flesh at the Volume 11 last night in Raleigh, NC. There were three other bands there: Graves of Valor, Lightning Swords of Death, and Behemoth. Even though Septic Flesh performed before Behemoth, they did so much better. Don't get me wrong, Behemoth put on a killer show, but Septic Flesh just blew them out of the water. Their performance was incredible. At the last song, "Persepolis," the singer had the crowd do a wall of death. Too bad they only played like 5 songs...

You guys are lucky. When it came time for us to have the show, Septic Flesh decided that they "didn't like our weather" and cancelled their set. That pissed me off because I was really looking forward to seeing them.
