I honestly prefer Necro-Blackened-Death-Doomgrind-Power-Folkthrash...

I think I'd have to stick with progressive metal, being that Circus Maximus, Evergrey, Opeth and Pagan's Mind are some of my absolute favourites .

Death metal.. I just love everything that death metal stands for. My second favorite would be thrash followed by heavy metal. All in all I belive that death metal is the heaviest and most angry. Which is kinda what I look for when it comes to music.

Black metal, but I also listen to a bit of everything I also like my death metal and some power. Interesting to see what other MetalStormers like too, lol.

I voted for Folk/Viking although Black metal is close behind and I also like many others (except for Thrash ).

You're right, my fucking mistake! I'm 32 and still can't spell "thrash".
Maybe 'cause before I was on MS I didn't need to spell it, who knows?
Fact is that a lot of people seems to get crazy when they see "trash"

I like death metal and I like death metal lyrics, but I think the "death" word sounds negative sometimes.
If you talk to non-metal people about your musical taste and you mention "death metal" you see people thinking: that sounds horrible,what kind of blur is that? Not that I care about other's opinion, but "power" metal and "heavy" and "black" and "speed" and most of the other subs are sounding more "normal"

Thrash Metal!!! Power Metal come in second followed by Death... But I love all Metal Music (but Drone Metal is weird...).

I stay with black metal, but I really listen many other styles for equal.

Ah, that's hard. I love Black, Death, Thrash, Grindcore, Gore, Funeral Doom, Doom, Folk, Viking and also some Power and Prog. And then I'm not even talking about crossovers between those, like Black/Death, Death/Doom etc.

Man, I think I'll go with Black, as I liked that first.

It's quite interesting to look back on this post. Look at the list of genres I've stated, my taste has changed/developed significantly.

Black is still a favourite though I've become quite seIective when it comes to (lasting) favourites. Funeral Doom is still a big favourite though it has moreless morphed into "Extreme Doom" as my taste has drastically broadened concerning the extreme side of the spectrum 'o Doom. I listen to a fair amount of traditional Doom too. I've pretty much ditched all Grindcore bands as it just doesn't interest me anymore, except perhaps for the occasional laugh. Death and Thrash are genres I still respect very much, but don't really listen to anymore. Although I occasionally get a real urge for Old School raw Death metal or some heavy fuckin' Thrash. Folk, Viking, Power and Prog can all be crossed out from the list.

A new list would require the extension of Pop music, Hiphop and other non-metal genres. Still, Black and Doom is the basis.

I apparently already voted. Just don't remember what and I didn't post anything at the time, but my guess would power...and that's still what I would vote now.

Doom and black. Weirdly, no doom in the options.

According to my collection, power metal is my main style, with thrash and heavy coming in second and third. Although the amount of death and black metal albums I own is steadily rising.

Thrash till death

I'm on the fence now between (funeral/death) doom and (progressive/melodic) death metal. Some bands I have trouble getting in to from each genre, but I find myself returning to more accessible bands a la Amon Amarth, whereas Mournful Congregation has been a roller coaster of a test. For the sake of this test I'll vote death metal, although once-upon-a-time I favored black metal above all.
