Guy Gavriel Kay - a Canadian writer of historical fantasy fiction

After meeting Christopher Tolkien, the son of J.R.R.Tolkien, he became his assistant in editing of The Silmarillion.

So far, Kay has written 10 novels & a collection of poetry.

I have read only 2 of his novels, The Lions Of Al-Rassan & The Last Light Of The Sun, both of which I found amazing.
In each book, some of the characters are based on real historical people, like El Cid or Alfred The Great.
Kay writes about a lot of different political and religious matters, and includes fantasy in all of that, making it even more interesting to read.
