Vicious is one of the Swedish newcomers of Melodeath Metal. After 2 demos the band come in the metal scene through Sound Riot Records with their first album, "Vile, Vicious & Victorius". No need to explain the style of this band, if you know Skyfire you'll know Vicious too, principally due to the fact that the singer of Vicious is also the one of Skyfire and that their music at the end is in the vein of a lot of Melodeath Metal bands from Sweden.

I will be very clear at the beginning, "Vile, Vicious & Victorius" is not a bad album of Melodeath but it suffer of some problems certainly due to the fact that this album is the first one of the band.
"Vile, Vicious & Victorius" is very aggressive, a lot of riffs are very powerful and very strong, hard, same for the thundering drums or the voice of Henrik Wenngren. It' s a good point, but some time with that fact, the songs are not very catchy. I mean, it's Melodeath? then we want something melodic, and well some songs on the albums are not very melodic?
The problem with that albums is in fact, its irregularity, some time we will have some really good song like "Deadicate" and some other time some tracks like "Beast" which are too much disorganized, not really well done. It's a shame because we can't say anything against the musicians of the bands who are all very good but maybe more writing experiences could be good for the band. I'm sure that in the future the songs will be more "professional" and not only common Melodeath. Because the big problem of this album is the lack of originality, actually there is too much Melodeath bands and well it's not a good thing for Vicious to do such too "common" music.

If I must talk about the production, I can't say anything against it, the sound is very good, and really it's hard to find something wrong with it. A good work on that point. But something disappointed me, the running time of this cd. Only 35 mins, no more, sorry but there is too much Melodeath bands which do that actually and well I disagree. The listeners who buy cd could have something at less of 45 mins each time? but no? It's not a good point...

As a conclusion I will say that "Vile, Vicious & Victorius" is a good album of Melodeath with some good points, but unfortunately this is more than common?there is a lot of production like this one? Too bad? With more maturity I'm sure that Vicious will do something a lot better in the future.
If you really like Melodeath, well you can buy this album without any doubt, but if like me you're a bit bored by the ton of bands that we have in that style and want something more original then, maybe you can try something else or wait the next album of Vicious which, when I see this first one, could be, I think, really good.
