02. Remember
03. Betwixt The Peaks

Holland, also known as The Netherlands, is the home country for this young Gothic metal Sextet, and here they offer us their demo "Remember". As many of you might know, Holland is also the country of many other successful Gothic bands, like After Forever, Epica and Within Temptation to name a few, and the rate is accelerating! Many Gothic metal bands are coming from there! I think Finland and Poland finally got some competition! (hmmm.. Finland, Poland, Holland Do you see the pattern? Maybe all countries with -land termination are destined to be incubators of Gothic metal bands? Something to think about?)

Anyway, this is only a 3 tracks Demo Cd, and some people may say that you can't judge a band just by listening 3 songs, but Annatar is awesome! First of all, the female vocals are just beautiful (handled by Elisabeth Cordia), reminded me of Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation, and all of you that have listened Ms. Adel singing you know that's a compliment!

The first track, "Mazes In A Mind" starts slowly, with some keyboards giving a nice atmosphere here and there, the beautiful female vocals, and Wham! We got some grunts! Also well performed, not too low and understandable!

Next song is the title track "Remember" and this is also a great song, and very different from the previous one, grunts take the lead here this time, "Betwixt The Peaks" has a great keyboard work, and is a more up-tempo song, also great.

So we have here 3 songs, 3 killers, I expect nothing but good things for Annatar in the future, and I can't wait to listen a full-length by them. Hurray for Holland.
