Venus Fisica is a really, really weird combo from Argentina. The title of their first album is "Ambiguo" (ambiguous) and if I can understand the reason of this name through the photos and the concept of the artwork (in two words a lovely? drag) I can also understand why when I listen to the music. Venus Fisica plays a Gothic Indus "Metal" (a lot more Indus than Metal actually) and if I cannot say that the band is bad, I cannot say too that this kind of music will find a lot of success in the world of the Metalheads.

But why? Well the answer is simple, if the music and the compositions of "Ambiguo" aren't bad at all, this is clearly too much electronic for a basic Metalhead like me. Actually, I have the feeling that we're in front of a "band" that only plays Techno/Indus music with some touches of Metal (especially with the guitars riffs). If some bands like Rammstein know how to mix with a lot of power those two forms of music I regret that Venus Fisico is above all a pure electro band. Don't misunderstand me, one more time I don't say that their music is bad, I even enjoy some of their songs but if you listen to "basic" Metal (Heavy, Thrash, Death etc) like me, every day, and even if you're really open minded (that's my case) it's hard to fall in love with this album. I'm sure that some pure fans of Indus will find a real interest in the album but the numerous Disco and Electro melodies can on the other side kill the interest that a Metalhead could find in it.

On the other hand, I really like the concept of the album. This ambiguity between Electro and Metal that you can also find on the artworks is interesting. At least Venus Fisico is really original and it's just too bad that the band doesn't know how to avoid this "happy" Electro/Disco music that doesn't fit with Metal in my opinion.

At least with this "Ambiguo" we have a curiosity, something that we cannot find everyday but on the other hand it's too far of Metal sometime to catch Metalheads. I say it again this is not a bad album but this is something only for the aficionados of the style. Then now you know what you can do with this CD. Love it if you like such music or hate it if you cannot accept Electro mixed with Metal.
