"Inscape" is the second album of the young French band Dryade. After a first album that was flirting with Melodic Metal, they're now playing something that we can put into the Progressive Metal classification. And it's not bad at all; ok not really revolutionary and we can even find some little mistakes on this release but it's honest and promising for their future.

The production of "Inscape" is a bit weak, that's actually the principal problem of the release. Of course it's not the worst that I ever heard but the majority of the demos from Germany or Scandinavia for example are better. But except this point (and the fact that Dryade doesn't invent anything really new), I have to admit that this CD is a cool release.

The music of the band is a bit dark and melancholic but also really complex and emotive. The two guitarists are good no doubts, the singer has a good beautiful voice (but he should be careful because sometime he just doing too much). Their song can be Heavy or even Funky ("Toy Of Your Acts") but at the end it's always really melodic and catchy. The vocals are in English and French and the lyrics are correct in general. No really, this CD isn't displeasing.

Now evidently Dryade plays a really conventional and not so original music and the 2nd part of the CD isn't so interesting and can be a bit boring at the end but with just a bit of work (just to correct their little mistakes), the next album should be a really nice one.

"Inscape" is not a bad album, just a bit unoriginal. Dryad has potential so we will wait to see if they can do something perfect. But it's a promising band so it should work I'm sure of it.
