Like The Gathering, The Provenance follows quietly its road in its new form of Metal. It was already possible to see the radical changes of musical directions on the really nice (but "special") "How Would You Like To Be Spat At" and today, we have the confirmation that the band decided for good to do something different than on their first albums. "Red Flags", their new album that will be released on Peaceville Records, is a good sequel to "How Would You Like To Be Spat At".

Between Jazz and Progressive music, with evidently a lot of dark influences, "Red Flags" is a surprising album. I know that some of you will always regret the first "form" of the band but actually, I really like the fact that the band tried to leave the Gothic Metal trend. The Provenance was good to play pure Gothic music of course, but we have the proof now with the help of two albums, that they can also write a different music in a good way. Like "How Would You Like To Be Spat At", "Red Flags" is a beautiful album, full of emotive songs.

"Red Flags" is not so easy of access but the songs are good. The performance of Emma is extremely convincing and if you liked "How Would You Like To Be Spat At" I'm sure that you'll love this new album. We have some great songs like "At The Barricades" with its hypnotic riff and sweet melody or "Deadned" and its really cool Jazzy influences so I don't see why you couldn't like this album. The production is nice and the sound is correct and the concept of the artwork is really cool in my opinion. I didn't find anything wrong on this album, but of course you'll have to remember that The Provenance is a "new" band that plays a new music. That's just a fact, the music of The Provenance is a bit like the one of Mader Mortem, and we're more into Progressive music than anything else now.

With "Red Flags" you can be sure that you'll pass a good moment, if you're not afraid of Pop orientations and Jazzy influences of course. Despite the fact that this album is a bit elitist and intellectual, you can be sure that we're in front of a lot of good compositions, so if you liked the precedent album of the Swedish combo you can go with this one without any problem. Red Flags is a nice and beautiful release full of emotion.

Thanks Jeff!! I didn't even know they had a new album out!! So far I only have 25th Hour Bleeding and I LOVE their doomy style on that one, very unique. I've been meaning to pick up the next one but have been slacking...

I love when bands have the courage to evolve and progress their style so I'll definitely be supporting this one
