Leaked, lets give it a listen

I was worried how this album would turn out since Mendel left the band, but the new guitarist (also of Vale Of Pnath) definitely has the chops. I also loved Global Flatline which also didn't feature Mendel on guitar so I kind of knew they could pull it off lol.

I keep being amazed at how Sven manages to maintain a consistent level and sound from album to album with so many member changes over the career of the band. Every album you immediately recognize upon first listen it is Aborted. I am also a fan of Mendel, but I agree, the new guitarist fits in perfectly.

Really enjoying this, their best effort in a few years IMHO. In a stacked genre they keep turning up.

In absolute terms, yes I agree, it is a high rating ("very good").
Yet you might also come to the conclusion that a 7.9 here is not too high a rating.
The average rating on MS across all studio albums with at least 1 vote must be close to 7.8 (my own estimator, actually for the median rating).
Against this, a 7.9 is only slightly above average.

I strongly believe the rating 7/10 should be the "very good" and 8/10 "great". I hate the overrating of records in all of musical journalism. It makes the rating scale of 1-10 pointless as everything below an 8 is suddenly a disappointment.

Yes, that's how it is, I agree. And the main reason for it -- if you ask me -- is that people tend to only rate the albums they like, leaving albums they do not like uncommented. And they do this because they have no incentive for rating albums they dislike. They would only get shit in return by fanboys. Thus, if you want balanced rating distributions you have to somehow force people to it, as unfavourable as this may appear.

Well, we're talking about two different things here I guess (fans and journalists). But again, you are correct. I myself like to rate records after I've given them 3 spins at least, which is tough for albums I dislike, as I just don't care to listen to them more than once, it's not a job for me. Stll, I have plenty of 6/10 and 5/10 ratings on this site

Yes, I saw that. But I claim there is not a big difference in both their behaviours.

That is understandable though.

First 5 songs are killing it.
Only Ian Jekelis to be credited for guitar work on this one - fantastic job.
