Here’s an album for everyone that misses Tarja-era Nightwish.

No I don't know BE, what good are you on about? your right though it's a pretty solid symphonic album, but with a slight gothic touch, nice vocals too.

How does this have such a low score i thought it was a really solid symphonic album. I hope others will find it and enjoy. I guess it is pretty new and the only reason i knew about was youtube suggested...

I was slightly skeptical about this considering how prominently the singers seemed to be pushed visually as the selling point in the promo for the album (including the album cover), but it's actually a perfectly decent symphonic metal debut, particularly more power metal-oriented songs like Blood of Heaven - I imagine fans of 90s Nightwish would get some joy out of this album, even if it's not quite a new Oceanborn/Wishmaster

I like the concept behind the album. Mixing a gothic metal singer (Grace) and a Symphonic singer (Rehn) together is a fresh idea. Song writing is pretty good too and there are some really good riffs in this album. The record slows down considerably after the two singles though and its also pretty short overall. However, I think my biggest problem with this really boils down to that I much prefer Grace over Rehn. I don't dislike her necessarily, its just that female Symphonic singers all sound the same to me and at this point i've largely grown tired of the sound. Grace has a really unique and interesting voice but unfortunately Rehn tends to sound much louder in the mix so it can be hard to hear her when they're singing together. I also think she was given more vocal work overall in addition to being louder in the mix so this album feels much more of a symphonic piece with some gothic touches. It's still an enjoyable album and a decent debut.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how much enduring appeal this album has had for me, or at least the three songs I highlighted in my review (Blood Of Heaven, In This Tragedy and The Trickster); it's nearly a year later and I am hooked on that trio again, they make for a very decent stand-in for scratching that classic Nightwish itch
