Odd that such a long-awaited comeback album is given such a narrow 'release' - can't see it on streaming sites, can't find it on Bandcamp, can't find it on retailers like Amazon, if there wasn't a youtube upload of the full album I'd assume it wasn't released. Given how unremarkable and typical this is for thrash (an accusation you couldn't level at Time Does Not Heal), it doesn't seem like an album you'd want to make it hard to access

I'm glad I wasn't the only one questioning whether it had actually been released! Will need to check out the youtube stream of it but don't have high hopes, which is a real shame.

It fills with some amazing hooks and riffs here and over there, but beyond that nothingburger.

So bland. Almost zero memorable riffs. Terrible, messy production with only drums sounding distinct (but not too good either). Midtempo tracks are a slog. The only song I enjoyed is the last one. Maybe Atavistic too.

I wasn't expecting the secong coming of Christ. In my opinion most comebacks are overhyped and disappointing, so I wasn't holding my breath for this one either. But still, the suckage that is this album is fathoms below my lowest expectations. Hot take: I don't think Darkness Descends is a classic lots of people think it is. So I can only imagine how disappointed the fans of that album must feel now.

All hype, no hope. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised since the only good thing this band ever did was Darkness Descends. Even Gene’s drumming sounds tepid, and he’s normally an absolute beast.

At least we know Coroner will stomp all over it.

"Sea Of Heads" sounds like pretty identical to the Merauder´s most well known song "Life Is Pain", wtf, album is so bad, sounds so generic, plastic, repetitive, and probably all these riffs assisted by IA music tool, like the cover art and the merch, "support art" they said.

Solid album, but vocals are less-than-desirable, to say the absolute least. Damn shame to see their "comeback" fall so flat.

Bad album, horrible production, abysmal AI cover artwork. If you haven’t listened to it, do yourself a favour and don’t .

This is pure laziness

I don't know if "laziness" is the right word here, but to me it's just generic and rather uninspired.

It's Gene and his wife's band nowadays, after Durkin's passing. With all due respect but this might be the answer about why the album isn't proving to be as good as expected. Hoglan and Durkin were the primary writers. Durkin's sudden death is still traumatic for DARK ANGEL and especially Hoglan (his words).
It's a bitter-sweet return for the band. In my point of view, it all feels like uneven ground and blurred focus.

I don't see why people are so surprised about this. The last 2 albums this band made before breaking up were atonal atrocities, badly produced and they reunited with one of the worst vocalists in thrash metal during the 80s/90s. Don was hardly Chuck Billy or Phil Rind material, but compared to Ron Rinehart was both Hetfield and Phil combined.

Dark Angel was always at its best when they aped Slayer on their first two albums. The moment they tried to play more complex stuff, they fell apart completely. In their childish way, they crammed 246 riffs on Time Does Not Heal album and even advertised this on the album sticker. This is how delusional this band was during the 90s. Their last two albums before they broke up were also badly produced and mixed, particularly Leave Scars.

Back in the 90s they were also one of the most sloppy live bands around, which is baffling because they used to be quite professional during their early phase (first two albums). They were like one of those signed-too-early sloppy German thrash bands in the 80s (case in point, Sodom before Persecution Mania). At least those bands were made up of kids who did not yet master their instruments and they did not rehearse enough to play tight in a live setting. These guys already had years under their belt as a band yet their live performance kept devolving.

I had no expectations out of this, but it is just baffling how that saying 'the more things change, the more they stay the same' clicks when it comes to this band. After 34 years of recording silence, they release this and it feels like it is the logical follow-up to their 1991 abortion.

This band was never relevant. They've got one good album and Gene Hoglan. That's it.

"Leave Scars" apart of the sound production, has some very aggresive and great Thrash Metal songs, but i never liked "TDNH", BORING as hell, 250 riffs and none its good, jaja, also with one of the worst Thrash vocalist ever, repetitive vocal melodies and repetitive riffs.

Yep, just a bang average album unfortunately and lacking any kind of memorability, not a good effort for a so-called comeback after that many years in the dark. The vocals were never the strong suit for this band but here they're borderline intolerable.
