It's been accepted long ago that traditional black metal is getting pretty tired, though it's fun to listen to the staples, hearing new bands put out the same crap year after year, month after month is just flat out boring. It's just the natural order of things; music needs to evolve. The real question to ask is; how can music evolve without turning it's back on the original sound?

Back in 2008, Assassins created quite some buzz around the board, and Nachtmystium were, once again, highly praised for their abilities to color outside the lines.

Apparently it is up to me to generate the buzz around its successor Addicts; an intense album that likes walking the thin line between sheer brilliance and mental madness. The music is still out of this world, though in a different way than Part 1.

There's also a song that Stereogum describes as "Burzum On The Dance Floor"... You wouldn't want to miss THAT, would you?

I saw the staff pick, "Burzum on the dancefloor"? Isn't that blasphemous in some context? HAHAHA

Kick Ass, Die Young

Less is More
Stay Pure
Stay Poor

Music was my life, music brought me to life and music is how I will be remembered long after I leave this life. When I die there will be a final waltz in my head that only I can hear.

A lot of people seem split on this album, much like with Addicts. I love Addicts though so I'm hoping I'll enjoy this one's weirdness as well.

I thought so too. But listen to the song "No Funeral" or "Ruined Life Continuum"...it's like catchy, and you can dance to it like pop...but it's raw and depressive like black metal. This band really knows how to expand and shit.

^True that. Two of the catchiest tunes here. And what an album this, perfect for almost any mood for me. This always makes me wish that Blake Judd returns to the making music one way or other.
