Oh, Liturgy on MS.
This one wavers between average and great; the main problem lies in the fact that it's sometimes a bit too much "exaggerated" for my poor ears. Plus, those chants or keyboard sections (can't remember which track atm, maybe "Helix Skull"?) are downright silly.
They can make some seriously interesting/original music, but sometimes they just lose control.

I am amazed that this album being on MS hasn't resulted in pages and pages of debate - particularly given the incandescent rage often displayed by some users over so-called 'controversial' albums.

Pretty rubbish album in all honesty...
Well I only added the profile a few weeks ago, so it's not like they've been around for a year for everyone to hate on.
I quite liked it to be honest... although it's far from great. I fail to see the ties to the hipster scene though. :/

Honestly, I don't know enough about what qualifies as hipster or not to really comment, except for the fact that the frontman seems to a bit too focussed on justifying himself and his music. Having a 'manifesto' for your music is plain dumb.
On a musical level, I found it a bit half-assed and that none of the ideas really went anywhere or went on for far too long.
Plus, they don't wear corpsepaint. Surely that's not allowed? ....

A manifesto? I didn't realize that... Sometimes I consider myself lucky for not digging too far into band history and background information and just focus on the music.
As for no corpsepaint... have you read my Deafheaven review?

Ya I was just talking about that... I was unaware of any manifesto; I only thought they were referred to as a hipster band because they are pseudo-experimental.

Nah, because of their intellectualism and manifesto and the scene they hang out in.
