Initially, this one sounds a bit of a letdown yet still a solid MR album. What to my ear is absent on this album is the quantity of those super-epic songs that one has become used to expecting from the band. "To Kill a King", "In the Wake" and "Ghost Warriors" are awesome tracks, hence at least momentarily the album reaches to epic metal excellency. The album as a whole I don't see as close to modern MR awesomeness as "The Blessed Curse" was. Anyhow, I'm sure that at least the old Manilla Roaders should find this album quite enjoyable

More listens and more songs have grown as better. "Never Again", "The Arena" and "The Other Side" are added to the do-not-skip category. Definitely not the best possible final album for the band, yet still highly enjoyable at moments. The initial average impression of the album has changed to rather a good one.
