Speaking of Deafheaven's sound, Dreamcrush is creeping its way into my personal top 10 of 2026. Great album, also on the heavier side from a pure Shoegaze perspective, but it scratches that itch really well.

Definitely wouldn't call deafheaven straight shoegaze

Concerts here are pretty packed, if not sold out entirely, usually. Even the smaller bands have a lot of pull. I count bands like Deafheaven more into Metalgaze, though. Their music is heavier than the video I posted.

Deftones have shoegaze inspirations on some of their albums but I wouldn't call any of them straight up shoegaze. Deafheaven are though.
