Personal information
Léo Mancini had his first contact with music when he was 9 years-old, through his sister Rosana Mancini. At 11 he was already taking some acoustic guitar classes, but soon he realized he preferred the electric one. Used to listen to rock since he was 5 years-old, influenced by his other sister, Lu Mancini, Léo knew that was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
After many years taking classes with important teachers such as Mozart Mello, Michel Leme, the conductor Reinaldo Garrido, Luis Carlos Wack, Carlos Iafellice Jr., José Renato and many others, he started teaching too.
At the age of 15 he started to teach music to some of his school mates, and at the age of 16 he was invited by his first teacher, Carlos Iafellice Jr., to give classes at his music school.
After participating in some instrumental music festivals, and getting great classifications, he was invited to join the teaching staff of Conservatório Musical Souza Lima, where he taught music for 5 years.
Léo was always looking for new ideas to add to his compositions, and in 1997 he invested his time learning musical production and recording: he wrote jingles and soundtracks to various companies (Directv ,Nextel and others), and also produced bands of very different styles.
Along of his career, he had the honor to play along with some famous musicians like Billy Sheehan, Jeff Scott Soto (Léo was the guitar player of the support band that played with Jeff the first time he came to Brazil), Patricia Coelho (forming the band DDAs), etc...
Today, Léo is ready to assume the guitar player position in Shaman, adding a lot of heaviness, technique and good taste to the new compositions of the band!
