Here in Sweden they even changed all the bills and most of the coins in 2016 because they needed to be "modernized". Nowadays most stores don't even take cash and I know many tourists/foreigners complain about it.
It's just rdiculous that there are still countries in the EU that haven't adopted the Euro yet. That was also true for the UK but we all know how that went.
A 5 Mexican peso coin looks the same as a Canadian $2 coin (toonie). I got a coffee at Tim Hortons and they gave me one thinking it was a toonie. I still have it on my desk at work lol.
Canadian quarters and pennies showed up fairly regularly, and everyone tries to get rid of them in vending machines. Never saw pesos, and I lived 100km from MX.
