IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson blasted a fan as a "Greek cunt" and a "fucking cocksucker" for lighting a flare during the band's concert Saturday night (July 16) in Athens, Greece.

The incident occurred as MAIDEN launched into the tenth song of its set, "The Number Of The Beast", at the Olympic Stadium. After singing the opening line of the track, Bruce noticed the flare lighting up and immediately burst into an angry rant, apparently concerned that the smoke from the flare would negatively affect his singing voice.

"The cunt with the fucking flare, I've gotta sing up here," Bruce shouted into the microphone. "You fucking cocksucker. You Greek cunt. All right. I've gotta fucking sing. All right. Fuck you."

Greece is smart man, he likes Rugby but then again I think Steve had sympathies to Inter City Firm in the 80's, this is football loving band, they should know Greek Thyra's (Gates) and how wild they are. It was not molotov, non was injured (I dont go to the football, watch on TV, because its dangerous to go ), but in a concert I dont want some nutter light a flair in front of me. I understand it and its not safe, but then again nothing happened there.

Bruce seems to think that it is acceptable to use the words "cunt" and "cocksucker" in 2022 as insults. I guess this is what happens when you've become old, and you're doing events that are not for your age and/or your abilities any more. It seems to me that it's more appropriate for him to focus on that spoken word bullcrap he did to promote his book. And the fact that he said "Greek cunt" bears its own weight. It has a very different connotation if someone calls him a "twat" than if someone calls him a "British twat".

The fact that there was pyro to begin with is the responsibility of the organiser. In any case, this incident happened when "The Number Of The Beast" was played, which was about 10 songs into the concert. He could have asked in between songs for people to be careful with the flares earlier and to not light them up close to the stage. Or he could have asked security to kick that particular spectator out of the venue. What he did instead came out as the outburst of an obnoxious, racist, and pathetic little old man. And to top all that, it was the very definition of hypocrisy to post all these photos with the pyro on their Facebook page (that they don't manage themselves, of course) right after the concert. The "Greek cunts" provided him and his band some nice content to share on their social media.

I saw them live in a Göteborg 2005 i think, but now I am not a fan boy, I don't think band can deliver show to amount money they ask.
Well silence is golden, we fans pay their bills, and metal is rare thing what unites people from different race, countries, social status, money level in a bank, and so on. I would not say that.

Yes totally unacceptable to call a guy cunt and Greek, cause I was there and not all the fans were cunts or Greek in fact. Also totally unprofessional to leave the stage and stop singing for 1/3 of the song. Rumors say their payment for the show surpassed the 1 million figure, so if they're still doing it for the money, they should be professional at least and not act like that if they get pissed. People will act stupidly everywhere, it's not a Greek thing. Also the organizers changed the arena standing area giving more space for the vip A tickets, leaving less space for the already overcrowded B standing area. This was dangerous especially with all the flairs, very irresponsible from High Priority Promotions (ex Didi Music).

I didn't go because I was working. But I wouldn't have gone anyway because I don't accept segregation for arena tickets in a metal concert. Those who thought of this shit can fuck right off, whether it's bands, promoters, or whoever else. This is not Adele (and I have nothing against Adele, she is great), it is metal, and I am an old fuck that refuses to pay different prices for VIP, premium, or A sections in metal concerts. I respect that other people are fine with it, but I am not. I'd rather go see a young, hungry, and appreciative metal band. I saw Maiden for the last time 4 years ago and I was right in the front, among a lot of pyro (it didn't bother Bruce then).

What iaberis mentioned about the Standing A and Standing B tickets is very true, as it can be seen in this photo.

Todd La Torre says that lighting flares at stadium concerts and soccer games is a "very common" thing for the people of Greece and is meant to be a "celebratory" gesture.
