He discussed his other projects with Something Else Reviews: "Blackfield has made a new record, though I'm not as involved with it as much as I once was ? for reasons which are obvious and apparent. Aviv, my partner in Blackfield, wrote all of the songs on this new record, but I still helped him to produce and record the album, and I sung on a few songs. They have some other great guest singers that have come in and sang on some of the other songs, too. So, Blackfield is certainly moving forward. The last thing I want to be doing is holding other people back."
About Porcupine Tree, he states: "I think it's slightly more complex with Porcupine Tree, which can't really happen without me instigating it and being the main writer and director of that situation ? so, that's more problematic. I don't have time in my life to do that, and what I'm doing now. So, I guess I have made the decision, right now, to concentrate on the solo career. But that's not to say that the band has broken up or anything like that. It's always conceivable that we could get back together in a year or five years, or 10 years. I really can't say. There are no plans at the moment."
Porcupine Tree's latest release was the live album Octane Twisted last year.

Had a feeling it would come to this having seeing him live about a month ago. Whatever you say, at present, Wilson is better than the last PT, The Incident. Written by R Lewis on 21.04.2013 at 13:40 You might choose but I suggest you go see him live, you might revise your opinion then. I.

Well, I think he is making the right decision. PT were on their way down, now if he lets it rest for a bit they will surely come back in top form while he keeps working on these wonderful solo albums.

Hasn't he been saying that for a while though? If he's not inspired to do something with PT right now he shouldn't. I'm all for him focusing on his solo stuff instead if that's where his interests lie. Dream Theater, for example, feel the need to release an album every 2 years and look where that has gotten them.

A sound decision, though an unfortunate one nonetheless. Though the new Steven Wilson record is... just... fuckin' amazing! Hope to see PT arise again, but I can dig it, if Steven wants to do his own thing right now.
