Dimmu Borgir - Reveal Second New Song And Video

With over 1.3 million YouTube views on the first single "Interdimensional Summit", Norwegian devils Dimmu Borgir unveil the second single, "Council Of Wolves And Snakes", with a new music video. The new full-length album, Eonian, will be out on May 4th via Nuclear Blast Records.

The experimental, folkloristic "Council Of Wolves And Snakes" is risking a look far beyond the horizon and proves that the band follows "no formula, no absolute", as Silenoz vows, and shows that the path sometimes guides them to places they would have never expected to end up when they started their journey. Check it out below.

Vocalist Shagrath states: "It's a song that sticks out from the rest of the album, it's Dimmu Borgir going into an experimental direction, but you can also find a lot of black metal inspiration in the middle section of the song. We are a band that has never been afraid of trying out new directions and artistically this is surely a very interesting and different track."

A lot better than the first one for sure, quite interesting sounding. We'll see how the whole thing turns out in the end

This black reverse triangle thingy in the beginning of the video looks like a giant slice of pizza that's been burnt. Good going Demon Burger!!

More interesting than the first single but still lacks power and punch.

Really liking this one, especially compared to the first video. Well done Dimmu!

Much better than the first song. I will still be skipping this release though.

It doesn't quite suck like the first one, but this is subpar for the genre. It looks like this thing is gonna be Dimmu Borgir's own "Catharsis".

This is finding me depressed. Glad I didn't wait too long for them to wake up. There are other rising bands that require more attention than this past and buried glory.

This song is just a bunch of half-assed ideas thrown together, which is also one of the (many) problems with Interdimensional Summit. And what part of this is "experimental"? Nothing in this song is remarkable or groundbreaking. Or maybe that's just an excuse for its complete lack of flow or direction.

As usual, a herd of whiners come and cry about Dimmu not being what they were in the 90's. Can't you understand that the Dimmu you so sorely miss will never return?

I don't love the song, it's just okay. But I won't whine, because I understand that bands change.

Where are these comments of people not understanding that Dimmu will never return to what they were?

I only see comments expressing an opinion on this specific song, and sometimes comparing it to the previous single. Which should be perfectly legitimate as you can express your dislike for a track. There is even a comment mentioning that Dimmu will indeed not be what they were (so the guy clearly understand that they won't return).

Nothing personal of course, just sayin' coz when a popular sell-out band releases a track we always have to endure these kind of useless "get over it" comments coming out of nowhere, as if it invalidated someone's opinion.

I counted exactly zero messages complaining about DB not being what they used to be or comparing this single to their early albums. Also, since when any type of criticism is automatically whining?

Nope. I also kinda like it. I'm looking forward to Eonian, but not necessarily because I think it's going to be epic or awesome, more so because I am interested to hear the full product. They're evolution has not been nearly as abysmal as, say, Children Of Bodom's.

I am also wondering when Galder is going to do another freakin' Old Man's Child album...

They ARE no as good as goold old Dimmu Borgir but not as bad as some people say. After almost 9 years of absence and quite a tragedy ending up with two members leaving you couldn't expect a lot. At least they are not making crap like In Flames these days. ;p
