Vinnie Paul - Reportedly Died From Major Heart Attack


Following the [url= http://www.metalstorm.net/events/news_comments.php?news_id=33871]tragic passing of drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott[/url], new reports claim that Vinnie Paul died from a "major heart attack," citing "sources who knew" the musician. The Las Vegas Review-Journal stated "Sources who knew Paul said late Friday and also today that he had suffered a major heart attack, but there has been no official confirmation of his cause of death."

On June 24th, TMZ reported that, according to his family, Paul "died in his sleep" at his Las Vegas home. TMZ added that the body had been presented to a medical examiner in order to determine an official cause of death, and that he would be flown back to his home state of Texas to be buried between his mother and brother, Dimebag Darrell.

We'll have to wait for the official medical examiner report.




Meanwhile, former Pantera bassist Rex Brown has finally released a statement regarding Vinnie Paul's passing: "The last few days have been very difficult & painful. At this time, I need more time to process my feelings. Thank you for all the love that has been sent. A formal press release will be coming shortly. Rest In Peace Brother Vinnie!"

Ex-Pantera frontman, Philip Anselmo, has yet to publicly comment on Vinnie Paul's death but he shared a photo of a lit candle. Anselmo and Paul have not been on good terms for many years.

There's been an outpouring of tributes for Vinnie Paul from the metal community and beyond.

Guitarist Tom Maxwell and his bandmate on Hellyeah has also released a comment on behalf of the band: "Just so broken hearted and in shock. I'm struggling to write this but we want to thank you all for your kind words and support in this tragic time. We don't have much info to give you other then Vinnie is now with Dime and they are together in a better place. Sadness, shock, confusion, anger, despair. We feel it all together. Hug your loved ones and keep them close. Thank you all again for all your love. Vinnie will be and is greatly loved and missed but his music will live forever. Crank it loud today and scream to the heavens so he can hear you."
