Black Sabbath - Box Set Of Tony Martin-Era Recordings Due This Year

Former Black Sabbath frontman Tony Martin recently stated in an interview on 'The Ron Keel Podcast' that a new record deal has been secured to reissue his recordings with the band. According to Martin, who was the voice of Sabbath from 1987 to 1991 and again from 1993 to 1997, the box set is expected to arrive this year.

Martin says: "I only found out yesterday. I had no idea. You don't get information very much from the Sabbath camp, really; they're very protective of their thing. So I only found out yesterday that they've now got a record deal for them. And I don't know what date they're planning on to release this stuff, but it's this year. And what I do know is that it won't be individual albums; it'll be a box set of the Tony Martin era. But they've got a deal for it now, and that was always the problem before - it's not out there and you can't get it because it's not on sale. And similarly, you don't get royalties - I don't get paid a penny from the sales 'cause it's not on sale. So why would you? But now if that all changes and this year they manage to get that released, oh, man - there's gonna be a lot of Tony Martin stuff out there."

Interesting, not the best era for Black Sabbath, but Tony Martin is still a very talented musician, he had a lot to live up to taking over from Dio, and despite him not originally wanting to take the role, he did all right, so credit where it's due.

how is it greed? Musicians don't need to make money? How are they supposed to make a living?

I didn't think I would live long enough to see Tony Martin -era albums re-released, but I guess miracles do sometimes happen.

Very excited for this. I haven't heard Headless Cross since I used to own it on cassette a hundred years ago or so.
